About the role
You will architect and deliver the data platform backbone that powers our bioinformatics and life science offerings, owning the full lifecycle of scalable, secure, and performant solutions. You will collaborate closely with domain experts to translate complex biological workflows into robust, production-grade infrastructure that meets the highest standards of reliability. You will act as a technical leader within a cross-functional team, mentoring peers and influencing technical direction through code, design, and thoughtful decision-making. You will ensure that every deployment aligns with our strict commitments to data integrity, privacy, and regulatory compliance in the sensitive bio sector. You will proactively identify bottlenecks and pioneer optimizations that elevate the performance and user experience of our platforms. You will contribute to the open source ecosystem where appropriate, releasing non-sensitive components back to benefit the wider community. You will stay deeply hands-on, writing production code while also taking responsibility for on-call duties and incident response. You will partner with product and science teams to anticipate future needs and build infrastructure that is both future-proof and easy to adopt.

What you'll do
Design and implement resilient data pipelines capable of ingesting, processing, and storing large-scale biological datasets from diverse sources and formats.
Architect and maintain the core API layers that expose secure and efficient access to bioinformatics workflows and analytical results for downstream applications.
Lead the definition and execution of our infrastructure as code strategy, ensuring that environments are reproducible, versioned, and auditable across all stages.
Champion the adoption of containerization and orchestration technologies to standardize deployment patterns and improve resource utilization across our compute fleet.
Build and operate the monitoring, alerting, and logging frameworks that give us deep visibility into system health, performance, and user interactions.
Drive the integration of scalable storage solutions optimized for both high-throughput sequencing data and long-term archival needs.
Collaborate with data scientists and bioinformaticians to prototype and deploy analytical tools that accelerate scientific discovery and product development.
Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and data retention policies that meet the stringent requirements of the life sciences industry.
Refactor legacy components into modular services that are easier to test, deploy, and extend as our product portfolio evolves.
Own the technical documentation and operational runbooks that enable smooth onboarding and efficient troubleshooting for the team.
Partner with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure that data handling practices adhere to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Continuously explore emerging technologies and tools that can provide a competitive advantage in performance, scalability, or developer experience.
Requirements
You hold a degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a closely related technical field that demonstrates strong foundational knowledge.
You possess proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems that handle high volumes of data and concurrent users.
You have a strong command of at least one modern programming language such as Go, Python, or JavaScript, with a demonstrated ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
You are deeply familiar with container technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, including their networking and storage models.
You have hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning, schema design, and query optimization in production environments.
You understand core networking concepts, including load balancing, service discovery, and secure communication protocols used in distributed architectures.
You have a solid background in monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting complex applications in production, using tools common in the cloud native ecosystem.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, and you can maintain a high level of focus and quality under pressure.
You communicate clearly and constructively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and shared understanding across teams.
Nice to have
Experience with bioinformatics pipelines, genomic data formats, or life science data standards is a significant advantage.
Contributions to open source projects, particularly in data processing, networking, or infrastructure tooling, are highly valued.
Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to the life sciences sector, such as GDPR in a bio context or HIPAA considerations, is appreciated.
Practical notes
Based in our Paris office, this role requires your physical presence during standard working hours.
This position is not eligible for remote work or relocation assistance at this time.
Travel is generally not expected for this role, as day-to-day collaboration happens on-site with the team.
