Area Manager, Red Team
Job description
About the role
Scale AI is seeking Area Managers within the Red Team & Safety Center to lead and manage the contributor workforce conducting adversarial safety testing of frontier AI models. Area Managers own the end to end lifecycle of contributor engagement, translating operational needs into workforce strategies that directly support campaign objectives. You will manage a portfolio of approximately 30 to 45 contributors, including 2 to 4 Campaign Leads who report directly to you and rely on your leadership for direction. This role requires deep ownership of people management, workforce allocation, and operational leadership across multiple concurrent campaigns and Campaign Lead teams. You will act as the primary operational link between the active contributor workforce and Scale leadership, HR, IT, and EOR partners to ensure alignment. The position demands resilience and judgment when navigating complex operational challenges in a fast moving environment. You will drive process improvements that enhance both contributor success and the quality of safety testing outcomes. This role is critical to scaling adversarial testing efforts while maintaining strict adherence to content policy and operational standards.
