Forward Deployed Engineer (CPG)
Job description
Forward Deployed Engineer (CPG)
About the Role
Laminar is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer (CPG) to own the end to end execution of technology pilot deployments within the Food and Beverage sector. This position is primarily customer facing, requiring significant time at client facilities to manage installations, drive adoption, and secure formal sign off. You will serve as the main trusted advisor to customer champions, coordinating activities with internal engineering and sales teams to ensure pilots are completed on schedule and meet all validation criteria. When not at client sites, the role involves deepening product knowledge and identifying new business expansion opportunities in collaboration with sales leadership.
This position demands a blend of technical applications engineering, hands on project management, and proactive sales engineering mindset. You will translate complex AI and sensor capabilities into practical operational workflows for beverage and food production environments. The role is based in close proximity to Greentown Labs, North America's leading cleantech innovation hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead intake sessions with client stakeholders to define pilot objectives, operational constraints, and success metrics for factory deployments.
- Design detailed installation workflows for the integration of IoT sensors and AI models within existing beverage manufacturing infrastructure.
- Coordinate build activities with internal engineering groups to validate system configurations, data flows, and operational logic prior to on site activation.
- Conduct structured review checkpoints with clients to verify system accuracy, data quality, and adherence to compliance and safety expectations.
- Guide ship procedures and transition pilots from initial testing phases to steady state production monitoring and optimization.
- Develop partner playbooks and standard operating procedures for sensors and AI integrations to support scaling across global facilities.
- Identify and support expansion opportunities by mapping adjacent production lines, new metrics, and additional value pools for measurement.
- Document recurring operational patterns and rare edge cases to refine product capabilities and influence the strategic product roadmap.
Required Qualifications
- Possess 3 to 5 years of professional experience in applications engineering or technical roles within industrial, manufacturing, or process environments.
- Demonstrate concrete familiarity with food and beverage manufacturing processes, water management systems, or production facility operations.
- Exhibit comfort operating in ambiguous situations, managing shifting priorities, and conducting frequent travel to diverse client locations.
- Show proficiency in utilizing sensors, data infrastructure platforms, and digital tools to explain complex system behavior to non technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience implementing AI enabled solutions or digital twin platforms in live operational settings.
Compensation and Location
-
Location: USA
-
Engagement: Full-Time
-
Compensation: $130,000 to $160,000 USD annually
