Roblox is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Creator Business team, where you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers the creator economy on the platform. This position focuses on enabling millions of creators worldwide to efficiently manage their revenue streams, analyze monetization performance, and grow their businesses on Roblox. You will tackle complex technical challenges involving financial systems, data pipelines, and distributed architectures while ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability. The role offers significant visibility and impact, as the Creator Business team is directly responsible for a substantial portion of the company's overall revenue generation.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deploy high-quality products and systems that provide exceptional user experiences for creators managing their businesses on the Roblox platform
• Partner closely with product managers, data scientists, and designers to gather requirements, refine specifications, and translate business needs into robust technical solutions
• Architect and implement scalable, secure, and highly reliable backend systems that handle monetization analytics, revenue reporting, creator payouts, and tax compliance with penny-perfect precision
• Build and optimize data pipelines that process large volumes of financial and transactional data while maintaining zero-defect standards
• Contribute to or lead the end-to-end system design process, ensuring solutions are well-documented, maintainable, and aligned with company-wide engineering standards
• Develop and maintain microservices and APIs that integrate seamlessly with other platform components and support the growing needs of the creator ecosystem
• Identify opportunities to improve existing systems, reduce technical debt, and enhance overall platform performance and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that financial systems meet regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards
• Drive projects with high organizational impact and visibility, taking ownership from initial concept through production deployment and ongoing maintenance
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers, and help establish best practices across the engineering organization
• Push the boundaries of innovation by exploring new technologies and approaches that can advance the company's mission and platform capabilities
• Actively contribute to recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates, mentoring junior engineers, and helping build a world-class engineering team

Requirements

• At least five years of professional experience developing consumer-facing products in a software engineering capacity
• Demonstrated proficiency in building, scaling, and maintaining data pipelines that handle significant data volumes with high reliability
• Strong experience working with distributed systems, including understanding of consistency models, fault tolerance, and horizontal scaling strategies
• Expertise in API design principles and microservices architecture, with a track record of building systems that are modular, testable, and maintainable
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
• Solid understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment automation
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex challenges into manageable components and deliver pragmatic solutions

• Experience working on financial systems, payment processing, or revenue management platforms where accuracy and compliance are critical

Practical notes

• The position is based at Roblox headquarters in San Mateo, California, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Compensation includes a competitive base salary between $243,290 and $295,250 USD, determined by factors such as professional background, training, work experience, and market conditions
