What you'll do

Design, develop, and maintain scalable software systems that support the Roblox platform's growth and performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to define project requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Implement best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation, to ensure the reliability and maintainability of our codebase.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing timely solutions to enhance system performance and user experience.
Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their technical skills and advance their careers.
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the design of new features and systems that align with our long-term vision.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve our software development processes and tools.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development workflows, including CI/CD practices and agile methodologies, to enhance team productivity.
Engage with the Roblox community to gather feedback and insights that inform product development and feature enhancements.
Work on performance optimization initiatives to ensure that our platform remains fast and responsive, even under high traffic conditions.
Assist in the integration of third-party services and APIs to expand the functionality of the Roblox platform.
Document technical specifications and user guides to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team and across the organization.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend or full-stack engineering.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, or Python, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure, and familiarity with microservices architecture.
Strong knowledge of database systems, including SQL and NoSQL, and experience with data modeling and optimization techniques.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Nice to have

Experience with game development frameworks or engines, particularly those related to online multiplayer environments.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and experience with modern web frameworks.
Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, including containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Previous experience working in an agile development environment, with a focus on iterative development and continuous delivery.
A passion for gaming and an understanding of the gaming industry trends and user expectations.
