What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of core systems that support millions of concurrent users, ensuring high availability and low latency.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define system requirements and translate them into scalable architecture.
- Implement best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration to maintain high code quality.
- Optimize existing systems for performance and scalability, identifying bottlenecks and proposing effective solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges and fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to the long-term technical vision of the core systems at Roblox.
- Analyze system performance metrics and user feedback to inform future enhancements and feature development.

Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on systems design and architecture.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or Java, with a strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.
- Extensive experience with distributed systems and cloud technologies, particularly in designing scalable and fault-tolerant architectures.
- Strong knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL, and experience with data modeling and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience in game development or working with gaming engines, particularly Roblox Studio.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and API design principles.
- Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization techniques specific to gaming applications.
