About the role
In this pivotal role, you will be part of the Engine Manufacturing team, focusing on the assembly and refinement of Aeon R engines designed for the Terran R launch vehicle. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing engine assembly processes from the point of design handoff to the final shipment stage. You will play a crucial role in shaping production workflows and will work closely with design engineers to ensure that all aspects of engine assembly meet the required standards. The position operates on a first shift schedule, from 6 AM to 3 PM.

What you'll do
- Assume complete responsibility for the integrated assembly of the Aeon R engine, managing the process from design release through to integration and shipment, while developing efficient build workflows aimed at achieving production targets and minimizing defects.
- Develop detailed specifications and procedures that will directly enhance the throughput of the Aeon R engine.
- Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, incorporate feedback from technicians, manage changes to the bill of materials (BOM), and conduct build checkouts to ensure timely engine deliveries.
- Contribute to the planning of work centers by assessing assembly operations, determining tooling requirements, evaluating capital equipment needs, and setting rate objectives across various sites.
- Draft test procedures and act as the test conductor to verify the health of hardware and the quality of builds.
- Assist in establishing business systems for the manufacturing of the first vehicle and pilot long-term solutions for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Quality Management Systems (QMS) to support efficient and high-quality production processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all engineering and production goals are met in a timely manner.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
Requirements
- A degree in engineering or a related technical field, coupled with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, particularly in creating detailed work instructions and process documentation.
- Proven skills in investigating and resolving hardware non-conformances, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Capability to mentor and train production technicians effectively on the assembly floor.
- Experience in coordinating with suppliers to secure necessary parts in a timely and reliable manner.
- Familiarity with both additive and subtractive manufacturing techniques, as well as precision inspection methodologies.

- Experience in a leadership role, particularly in guiding a small team within a technical environment.
- Background working in a startup or a fast-paced development context, showcasing adaptability and innovation.
- Hands-on experience in a propulsion development program, contributing to the design and testing of propulsion systems.

Practical notes
- The salary range for this position is between $109,000 and $163,000 USD, with the final compensation being determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
