Sr Dynamics Engineer
Job description
Sr Dynamics Engineer
About the Role
This position owns the structural dynamics and vibration testing for Terran R. You will transform forcing functions into hardware qualification decisions that maintain the Terran R schedule. You will solve problems where information is incomplete and your recommendations directly influence vehicle reliability. Your role bridges analysis and flight, closing the gap between models and physical hardware.
The role is based in Long Beach, California. It is a full-time position with an annual compensation of $140,000.00.
Responsibilities
You will develop random vibration and shock specifications to ensure hardware survives launch and handling. You will design test articles and procedures to verify that vehicle components meet strict reliability targets. You will guide cross-functional partners to align on loads expectations during early design trade studies. You will translate analysis outcomes into clear requirements that influence component selection and integration. You will coordinate reviews with Aerodynamics, Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), Propulsion, and Structures to resolve emerging dynamics risks. You will maintain traceability from requirements through test results to ensure compliance with vehicle standards. You will lead test execution and adjust models based on data to improve future design margins. You will own the documentation and sign-off workflow so that dynamics decisions are recorded and actionable.
Requirements
You must hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline relevant to dynamics and vibration. You must have 3-5 years of experience applying dynamics analysis to hardware qualification programs. You must know random vibration analysis methods and test techniques for aerospace hardware. You must understand shock testing and specification development for launch vehicle environments. You must communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams under tight project timelines.
Preferred Experience
Experience with Terran R or launch vehicle structures is preferred if you already know the environment.
Tools and Skills
You will use CAD, MATLAB, Python, Ansys, test equipment, and documentation standards.
Integrated Performance Team Context
The Integrated Performance team owns the holistic view of how Terran R comes together, ensuring that every system on the vehicle and ground is capable of achieving ambitious objectives. The team works across the full launch system, from trajectory design and aerodynamics to reliability analysis, with direct influence on all parts of the product lifecycle. Beyond analysis, team members engage hands-on with hardware and operations, with the mission and authority to drive meaningful programmatic change. The team operates with a scale that is large enough to support complex development, yet small enough that individual contributors have meaningful impact.
As a part of the Integrated Performance group, the Loads & Dynamics team is directly responsible for digesting forcing functions and building models to produce loads for hardware owners. The Loads & Dynamics team works heavily with partner teams in Aerodynamics, GNC, Propulsion, and Structures to balance immediate hardware needs with updated analysis and modeling.
About Relativity
At Relativity, we are building rockets to serve today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that is only the beginning. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.
Joining Relativity means becoming part of a space where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you are not just executing tasks; you are solving problems that have not been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you are in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you will collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we are writing together. This moment in time is unique. It is early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and gaining momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.
