SkillBridge: Manager, Defense Business Development

About the role

You will own the full lifecycle of REGENT's defense business strategy, translating high-level mission needs into executable commercial and government plans. You are responsible for defining and driving the long-term roadmap that converts breakthrough Seaglider technology into formal DoD Programs of Record. This role requires you to act as the primary architect of our dual-use value proposition, ensuring alignment between warfighter readiness goals and REGENT's scalable maritime mobility solutions. You will steward key relationships across the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community, positioning Seagliders as critical enablers for rapid, sustainable coastal operations. Your work will directly determine whether REGENT's vehicles become integral assets for national defense and security missions. You will ensure that every technical and programmatic milestone is clearly communicated to both our engineering teams and government stakeholders. Ultimately, your success will be measured by the depth of REGENT's integration into core defense acquisition programs and the resulting impact on national warfighter capability.

What you'll do

Coordinate strategic capture planning across engineering, program management, and government relations to align Seaglider capabilities with evolving defense priorities.

Develop and execute long-term business development roadmaps that convert emerging defense needs into concrete pathways for Program of Record attainment.

Analyze legislative actions, budget cycles, and emerging customer requirements to identify timely opportunities for REGENT's technology insertion.

Forge robust relationships with key decision-makers across the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and innovation-focused offices such as DIU.

Lead the development of high-quality proposals, response packages, and capture strategies that clearly articulate the operational value of Seaglider systems.

Partner closely with engineering leadership to translate complex technical specifications into accessible narratives for defense stakeholders.

Monitor and evaluate active government programs, ensuring REGENT remains positioned to respond rapidly to new solicitations and priority gaps.

Build and refine the defense business development playbook, creating repeatable processes for opportunity identification and pursuit.

Oversee the execution of existing Marine Corps and Defense Department contracts, ensuring strict adherence to timelines, requirements, and deliverables.

Act as the primary liaison between REGENT's technical teams and government customers to clarify needs, manage expectations, and maintain alignment.

Champion the integration of emerging capabilities into broader defense architectures, highlighting Seaglider contributions to coastal mobility and mission assurance.

Provide clear, consistent communication of program status, risks, and milestones to both internal leadership and external oversight entities.

Cultivate a deep understanding of defense acquisition frameworks, allowing for nimble adaptation to policy shifts and regulatory requirements.

Champion REGENT's mission within defense circles, ensuring the Seaglider is recognized as a critical enabler of next-generation maritime operations.

Requirements

You must be eligible to participate in an internship under DoD Instruction 1322.29 and maintain compliance with all internship eligibility criteria.

You must be projected to receive an honorable discharge from the military upon completion of your service commitment.

You must have completed all TAP and transition requirements prior to the official start date of the internship assignment.

You must secure written approval from your Unit Commander or an O4-level officer in your chain of command before accepting the internship opportunity.

You must be within a reasonable commutable distance to the Washington DC location or obtain necessary relocation approval if required.

You must demonstrate a strong commitment to transitioning into a civilian career in the maritime or defense technology sector.

You must possess the legal right to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship at this time.

You must be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including military personnel, government officials, and engineering professionals.

You must uphold REGENT's standards for professionalism, integrity, and operational excellence in every interaction.

You must be prepared to engage with complex defense policy, acquisition, and strategic planning materials on a regular basis.

Practical notes

Interns in this role are expected to work full-time hours during the internship period and must adhere to all program timelines.

Relocation may be required and must be approved in advance according to REGENT's policies.

This internship is structured as a partnership with the Department of Defense under the SkillBridge initiative, and all participation must comply with applicable regulations.
