What you'll do

• Lead the recruitment, mentorship, and management of a team of full-stack engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.
• Develop and execute the engineering strategy for both internal tools and customer-facing applications, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
• Maintain a hands-on role by actively contributing to the codebase and staying engaged with the technical stack.
• Supervise daily project management, ensuring tasks are prioritized and delivered efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
• Establish architectural guidelines for front-end development using React and TypeScript, as well as for REST/gRPC APIs and Go/FastAPI services.
• Design and implement robust authentication systems, role-based access control (RBAC), and auditing mechanisms to enhance security.
• Collaborate closely with research, platform, and product teams to convert requirements into effective system designs and reliable integrations.
• Drive the continuous improvement of development processes and practices within the team to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high standards of code quality and maintainability.
• Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on product features, ensuring alignment with user needs and expectations.
• Contribute to the creation of documentation and training materials to support team onboarding and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in building and scaling engineering teams while retaining strong individual contributor skills.
• Proven ability to lead a team of around 10 engineers effectively, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
• Extensive experience in full-stack development, with a successful track record of delivering production-quality applications.
• Strong technical expertise across the entire technology stack, including user interface, API, and authentication components.
• Experience in developing and maintaining reliable integrations with external systems or customer environments.
• Capability to drive strategic initiatives and execution in a startup environment characterized by rapid growth and change.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in product development.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
• Previous experience in a research-focused environment or with AI technologies.
• Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and best practices.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in React, TypeScript, Go, and FastAPI.
• Familiarity with RESTful and gRPC API design and implementation.
• Experience with authentication protocols and security best practices.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
• Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git.
