Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Trade Mark Paralegal to join our dynamic team in Brussels. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our intellectual property department by managing trademark registrations and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of trademark law and demonstrate excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

What you'll do

• Assist in the preparation and filing of trademark applications, including conducting preliminary searches and preparing necessary documentation.
• Monitor and manage deadlines for trademark renewals and other critical filings to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
• Conduct thorough trademark searches and analyze results to provide insights and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
• Maintain and update the trademark database, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
• Liaise with clients, external counsel, and government agencies to facilitate the trademark registration process and address any inquiries.
• Prepare and file responses to office actions and oppositions, collaborating with attorneys to develop strategies for overcoming objections.
• Assist in the management of trademark portfolios for various clients, providing regular updates and reports on status and deadlines.
• Support the legal team in preparing materials for trademark litigation and enforcement actions, including gathering evidence and drafting pleadings.
• Conduct research on trademark laws and regulations in various jurisdictions to ensure compliance and inform clients of any changes that may affect their trademarks.
• Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing insights on trademark strategy and best practices.
• Assist in the development of training materials and resources for clients and internal staff on trademark-related topics.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and workflows within the trademark department to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a paralegal role, preferably within a law firm or corporate legal department focusing on intellectual property.
• Strong knowledge of trademark law and procedures, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex legal issues.
• Proficiency in trademark search tools and databases, as well as familiarity with filing systems used in various jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with international trademark filings and knowledge of the Madrid Protocol.
• Familiarity with legal management software and tools used for trademark management.
• A degree in law or a related field, or a paralegal certification from an accredited institution.
• Fluency in multiple languages, particularly French or Dutch, is a plus.
• Previous experience in a client-facing role, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
