What you'll do

• Design and develop advanced photonic integrated circuits tailored for quantum computing applications, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define circuit specifications and requirements, integrating feedback from various engineering disciplines.
• Utilize state-of-the-art simulation tools to model and analyze photonic circuits, optimizing designs for efficiency and effectiveness.
• Conduct experiments to validate design concepts, analyzing results to refine and enhance circuit performance.
• Work closely with fabrication teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable and align with production capabilities.
• Participate in the development of testing protocols to assess the functionality and reliability of PICs.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in photonic technologies and quantum computing, applying new knowledge to improve design practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance on design methodologies and best practices in photonic circuit design.
• Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and patent applications.
• Present findings and progress to stakeholders, clearly communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on photonics or quantum technologies.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in photonic integrated circuit design, preferably in a research or industrial setting.
• Proficiency in design software such as Lumerical, COMSOL, or similar simulation tools for photonic applications.
• Strong understanding of optical waveguides, lasers, detectors, and other photonic components.
• Experience with semiconductor fabrication processes and an understanding of the challenges involved in manufacturing photonic devices.
• Proven track record of successful project management, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to addressing complex engineering challenges.
• Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively within a team and presenting ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
