What you'll do

• Design and develop optical packaging solutions that ensure the reliability and performance of quantum computing systems.
• Collaborate with optical engineers and physicists to define the specifications and requirements for optical components.
• Conduct simulations and modeling of optical systems to predict performance and identify potential issues.
• Oversee the prototyping and testing of optical packages, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
• Develop and implement manufacturing processes for optical packaging, including assembly and integration techniques.
• Work on the characterization of optical components, including lenses, mirrors, and waveguides, to enhance overall system efficiency.
• Analyze test data and provide insights to improve optical packaging designs and processes.
• Maintain thorough documentation of designs, testing procedures, and results to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and components necessary for optical packaging.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in optical packaging technologies to drive innovation within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in optical packaging or related fields, preferably in the semiconductor or photonics industries.
• Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of optical principles, including wave optics, geometrical optics, and photonics.
• Experience with fabrication techniques for optical components, including coating, polishing, and assembly.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies for optical systems, including interferometry and spectrometry.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience in quantum optics or quantum computing applications.
• Familiarity with CAD software for mechanical design, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Previous experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced technology environment.
