Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Personio operates a career platform dedicated to connecting skilled blue-collar workers with employers. We are looking for a developer to help scale our product ecosystem and improve the tools we provide to our users. You will own the design and implementation of critical features that directly impact the user experience of our platform. This role requires you to take initiative in identifying bottlenecks and proposing technical solutions independently. You will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of our applications as we grow. Collaboration with cross-functional partners will be central to aligning technical work with business objectives. You will play a key part in shaping the technical roadmap and influencing product decisions. Your work will contribute directly to the mission of supporting technical professionals in essential industries.

What you'll do

• Architect and develop new features for our expanding software landscape using modern technologies.
• Enhance the performance and scalability of our mobile and web applications to meet growing user demands.
• Lead the design of new components and services while managing your own development initiatives from conception to delivery.
• Conduct thorough peer code reviews to uphold code quality and share knowledge across the engineering team.
• Integrate robust RESTful APIs and work with JSON data structures to ensure seamless data flow across the system.
• Implement efficient data models in MongoDB and optimize queries to support complex user interactions.
• Apply DevOps best practices to streamline deployment pipelines and improve the reliability of our production environment.
• Write testable, high-quality code that adheres to strict standards and reduces the likelihood of production incidents.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in production and provide rapid resolutions to minimize downtime for end users.
• Mentor junior developers by providing guidance and code feedback to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Explore and prototype new technologies such as Node.js to evaluate their impact on our current stack.
• Ensure all development work aligns with security and compliance standards relevant to our user data.

Requirements

• Demonstrate professional experience building web applications outside of academic or tutorial settings.
• Show advanced proficiency in JavaScript and typed languages such as TypeScript for robust application development.
• Exhibit a strong grasp of web architecture with a clear understanding of REST APIs and JSON data structures.
• Prove ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including design, marketing, and product management.
• Apply fundamental knowledge of DevOps practices to maintain a focus on writing testable, high-quality code.
• Display strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug issues in complex software systems.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Take ownership of your work and demonstrate accountability for project timelines and deliverables.
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift based on business needs.
• Have a proven track record of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Understand the importance of version control and use Git effectively to manage collaborative workflows.

• Be located in or willing to relocate to Berlin to ensure seamless integration with the team.
