About the role
Postman seeks a Technical Community Manager to build and lead a global developer community centered on APIs and AI agents. You will design programs, create engagement systems, and shape a space where developers learn, build, and share together. This role sits at the intersection of community building and product growth, turning millions of existing platform users into an active, self-sustaining community.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the complete strategy for the Discord community, covering onboarding, retention, and reactivation programs
- Run Discord-native initiatives such as Quests, Stage events, and structured channels that encourage technical discussion
- Track community health through metrics including signup growth, DAU/MAU, message volume, retention curves, and engagement rate
- Establish recurring community activities like weekly challenges, office hours, live builds, and AMAs
- Create the Ambassador and MVP programs from scratch, defining selection criteria, tiered benefits, activation playbooks, and recognition systems
- Recruit and support top contributors and technical advocates worldwide
- Enable program members to lead local and virtual user groups, produce content, and represent the company at events
- Lead development of a vendor-neutral Agents and APIs community for developers working with AI agents, LLMs, MCP servers, and API-first architectures
- Curate and commission tutorials, technical content, and showcases highlighting real-world agent and API patterns
- Partner with adjacent communities in AI/ML, open-source, and cloud-native spaces to expand reach
- Collaborate with Product and Growth teams to connect community engagement with measurable product activation
- Design programs that highlight features including Flows, AI-powered collections, Monitors, and Mock Servers
- Build pathways from community participation to product discovery through challenges, use-case showcases, and feature launch programs
- Report on correlations between community engagement, feature adoption, and user retention
- Foster a content ecosystem where members create tutorials, blog posts, videos, templates, and open-source collections
- Run structured UGC campaigns with clear incentive structures, such as monthly build challenges
- Amplify top community content through newsletters, social channels, and the Postman Public API Network
- Work with Developer Relations to feature community voices at conferences, in documentation, and in marketing
Requirements
- 6+ years in developer community management, developer relations, or a related technical role
- Demonstrated experience managing Discord communities at scale, including bots, permission structures, and native engagement features
- Proven track record building ambassador, MVP, user group, or similar programs from zero to measurable results
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical tutorials and community announcements
- Data-driven approach with clear understanding of which metrics matter and how to build programs that move them
Nice to have
- Experience with AI agents, LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, or AutoGen, or MCP-based tool use
- Familiarity with Postman or similar API tooling like Insomnia, Bruno, or Swagger
- Background in software engineering or technical writing
- Experience running global community programs across multiple time zones and languages

- At 12 months: demonstrate quarter-over-quarter growth in new Discord members, month-over-month engagement rate improvements, measurable feature adoption lift from community programs, and independent traction for the broader Agents and APIs community
