About the role
Postman is actively searching for a strategic leader who will own the end to end responsibility for defining robust go to market plans specifically for our evolving API platform services. In this capacity, you will be the primary translator, taking intricate technical features and capabilities and converting them into clear, compelling value propositions that resonate deeply with developers and platform engineers. The role requires you to drive both adoption and long term retention by crafting narratives that highlight the tangible business outcomes our platform enables. You will own the narrative that connects our product vision to the daily workflows of our user base. This position demands a proactive mindset that anticipates market shifts and customer needs before they are explicitly stated. You will be accountable for ensuring that the messaging remains consistent and powerful across every touchpoint in the customer journey. Ultimately, you will shape how the world understands and interacts with Postman's API platform.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead end to end product marketing initiatives for designated features and services to achieve significant market penetration and expansion.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to deconstruct complex technical functionality into accessible customer facing messaging and narratives.
- Author and produce a diverse range of outbound content including technical blogs, instructional videos, step by step tutorials, optimized web pages, live webinars, and engaging social media posts.
- Equip the revenue organization through the development and delivery of pitch decks, battle cards, and strategic playbooks to enhance sales effectiveness and confidence.
- Orchestrate and execute major product launches by coordinating cross functionally with operational marketing teams and generating all necessary supporting materials.
- Serve as the primary company representative at industry conferences, large scale events, and trade shows to articulate our value proposition.
- Analyze competitive landscapes and market trends to identify opportunities for differentiation and new positioning angles.
- Develop detailed customer personas and journey maps to ensure all messaging aligns with the target audience's specific pain points and aspirations.
- Own the creation of sales collateral and enablement tools that shorten the sales cycle and improve conversion rates.
- Provide thought leadership by contributing to industry publications and speaking engagements that reinforce our authority in the API space.
- Establish feedback loops with customer success and support teams to incorporate real world insights into ongoing marketing strategies.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strict attention to detail and deadline adherence.
Requirements
- Bring 8 or more years of professional product marketing experience to the table, or alternatively possess 2 or more years of post MBA management or strategy consulting background.
- Demonstrate a proven background working within software, SaaS, developer tools, or DevOps environments.
- Show a history of successfully building product positioning and crafting clear, persuasive messaging from the ground up.
- Have substantial experience with customer targeting, profiling, and segmentation to drive informed marketing decisions.
- Exhibit a strong grasp of the fundamentals of product marketing and the ability to apply them in a fast paced setting.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills capable of influencing both technical and non technical stakeholders.
- Display strong analytical skills and the capacity to interpret data for the purpose of guiding marketing strategies.
- Commit to working in a collaborative environment where cross functional alignment is essential for success.

Practical notes
This role is based in San Francisco, California, and requires in office presence five days per week. The base salary for this position ranges from $250,000 to $300,000, supplemented by equity awards.
