About the role
Postman is seeking a Key Account Director to spearhead growth within our most significant enterprise partnerships. You will execute a strategic go-to-market approach designed to deepen our presence and deliver the full value of our API platform to large-scale organizations. In this capacity, you will own the end-to-end sales cycle for marquee clients, aligning Postman's capabilities with their most pressing digital transformation initiatives. You are responsible for translating complex technical functionalities into clear business narratives that resonate with executive stakeholders. This role requires a proactive mindset to identify latent needs and position the platform as an indispensable component of the client's infrastructure strategy. You will act as a trusted advisor, guiding C-suite leaders through decisions that shape their API and integration roadmaps. Success in this position will be defined by your ability to convert strategic vision into measurable account growth and retention.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage and expand a portfolio of strategic enterprise accounts, including Fortune 500 companies and cloud-native organizations.
- Build relationships with C-suite executives and VPs across engineering, security, platform, and collaboration departments.
- Execute multi-threaded sales campaigns to convert large-scale developer adoption into enterprise-wide platform value.
- Lead complex sales cycles covering API governance, security, collaboration, and AI-driven workflows.
- Create tailored value propositions that demonstrate clear ROI for large organizations.
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to drive account outcomes.
- Forecast account health, pipeline progress, and business results.
- Act as a strategic partner to clients by staying informed on industry shifts like agentic AI and cloud-native development.
- Develop and maintain detailed account plans that map stakeholders, initiatives, and timelines to Postman's solution suite.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities within existing accounts to maximize customer lifetime value.
- Partner with the Field CTO to design and deliver technical workshops that address client-specific architecture challenges.
- Leverage competitive insights to refine positioning and counter objections during high-stakes enterprise reviews.
- Utilize data-driven insights to prioritize outreach and optimize engagement strategies for maximum impact.
- Represent Postman at executive briefings and strategic forums to reinforce the brand's thought leadership.
Requirements
- 10 to 15 years of experience in enterprise sales, specifically in strategic account management and expansion.
- Proven success in solution selling for technical products, such as cloud infrastructure, SaaS platforms, security solutions, or developer tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage long sales cycles and close multi-million dollar expansion deals.
- Experience navigating complex organizational structures with multiple stakeholders and thousands of users.
- Deep understanding of enterprise buyer personas, including security, platform, and developer productivity leaders.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to influence at the C-suite level.
- Fluency in emerging technologies, specifically AI and agentic AI.
- A history of exceeding quota and delivering predictable revenue growth in previous roles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills tailored to executive-level audiences.
- Willingness to travel regionally to support key client engagements and industry events as needed.
- Commitment to adhering to Postman's internal compliance and data security protocols at all times.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve based on client and market demands.
- Readiness to collaborate closely with technical teams to articulate the value of API-centric solutions.
- Demonstrated success in building and maintaining C-level relationships over extended sales cycles.
