Account Executive, High Velocity
Job description
About the role
This role is one of the first Account Executive positions in San Francisco, directly shaping revenue generation and product direction for a B2B customer support platform. The successful candidate operates at the intersection of sales execution and product feedback for high-growth B2B companies.
Sales roles connect a company's product with the customers who need it. Representatives research accounts, run demos, handle objections, and close deals. The work is quota driven and moves quickly. Strong sellers combine listening skills with product knowledge and steady follow through. Sales roles reward consistent activity and honest qualification of deals. Most companies use a defined sales process, and reps are trained on it before being left on their own.
Key facts
What you'll do
You own end-to-end deals for inbound leads, guiding them from discovery through negotiation to closure. This process delivers clear value propositions to technical B2B buyers based on customer pain points.
You close pipeline built by Demand Generation and refine how opportunities move through the funnel with iterative adjustments. Core sales variables such as ICP, pricing, segmentation, deal tracking, and conversion ratios are continuously optimized.
Customer insights move to product and engineering teams to directly influence the product roadmap as a trusted partner. You work with Operations to guide customer onboarding and expansion for accounts that show growth potential.
Requirements
The posting states a bachelor's degree requirement. You have sold complex, integration-heavy B2B SaaS into SMB organizations, where technical depth is an advantage. Experience in early-stage GTM teams operating from Series A to Series B while building processes from limited frameworks is required.
You demonstrate sales craft through crisp discovery, compelling product demos, and confident negotiation when ambiguity is present. Detail-oriented operation in a fast-moving environment is necessary, as every deal follows a unique path.
You care about shaping products alongside revenue targets and commit to in-office collaboration in San Francisco to learn from peers and meet customers directly.
Practical notes
This role requires comfort with undefined challenges as the company grows and experiments with new approaches. You will work hands-on across the full sales cycle without layered SDR or SE support.
Your collaboration with product and engineering will heavily influence how the sales process evolves. Typical interview steps
Sales hiring often includes a role play, a discovery call simulation, and a presentation. Candidates may be asked to pitch a product to a panel or handle a tough objection. Behavioral questions focus on past quota attainment and deal history. Energy and preparation matter. Interviewers often simulate the job in the interview itself, so be ready to run a short discovery call or demo. Practicing your own sales pitch out loud helps.
Good to know
Sales roles in early-stage startups often blend execution with strategic input on product direction. B2B SaaS sales for technical buyers typically require fluency in integration and workflow concepts. Cross-functional collaboration between sales, product, and engineering commonly drives product-market fit. Hybrid schedules balance in-person collaboration with focused remote work. Roles at Series A companies usually offer broad responsibilities with structured growth paths.
Career growth
Sales careers can move from SDR or associate to account executive, senior AE, manager, and director roles. Some sellers move into partnerships, account management, or revenue operations. Compensation typically mixes a base with commission tied to results. High performers in sales typically move into larger accounts, team leadership, or sales operations. Quota history and references carry the most weight in promotion.
