In the position of Staff Software Architect within the Product and Engineering division, you will be instrumental in the design and delivery of services that elevate the PitchBook platform. Your technical expertise will guide teams in developing solutions that cater to thousands of users daily, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and driving business growth.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect, develop, and maintain various components of PitchBook's services, focusing on both backend systems and frontend architecture, with hands-on coding responsibilities included.
- Define and assess non-functional requirements for platforms and products to ensure they align with user expectations.
- Create thorough documentation of architectural modifications and effectively communicate these changes to relevant teams.
- Write high-quality, testable code that meets performance and scalability benchmarks.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders in an Agile environment to ensure project alignment and success.
- Provide technical leadership and conduct architectural reviews, mentoring team members in best practices.
- Lead comprehensive initiatives with minimal oversight, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Participate in processes aimed at product enhancement through user feedback and root cause analysis.
- Embody and promote the company's core values and behaviors in all interactions.
- Engage in various company projects and initiatives as required, contributing to the broader organizational goals.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a Software Development or Engineering role with a Bachelor's degree; 6 years with a Master's degree; or 3 years with a PhD.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience with Java or a comparable object-oriented programming language.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in developing microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and Microservices Architecture, as well as Cloud Architecture, Domain Driven Design, Clean Architecture, and Hexagonal Architecture.
- Expertise in identifying architectural patterns and designing RESTful APIs to facilitate seamless integration.
- Experience with middleware, platforms, or systems of systems is essential.
- Familiarity with web technologies and standards, including JSON and JWT, is required.
- Proficient in cloud services, particularly Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong skills in Spring Boot/Spring Framework for building robust applications.
- Experience with container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes is necessary.
- Proven experience in designing systems that utilize LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex) for complex reasoning tasks.
- Experience in creating interfaces and integrations using Model Context Protocol (MCP) for secure data access is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to design AI-native data backends, including schema design tailored for LLM consumption.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines to enhance development workflows.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools to facilitate team collaboration.
- Knowledge of data security best practices and compliance standards relevant to financial services.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and their application in software architecture.
- Experience in mentoring junior developers and contributing to team skill development.
