What you'll do
- Oversee the comprehensive developer experience strategy for the Perplexity API Platform, ensuring a seamless journey for users.
- Develop and enhance developer-oriented content, such as documentation, software development kits (SDKs), command-line interfaces (CLIs), multi-channel platforms (MCPs), and Agent Skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Foster a vibrant developer community that advocates for Perplexity's APIs and explores innovative applications of these technologies.
- Analyze customer requirements, identify successful usage patterns, and address challenges to effectively represent the developer's viewpoint.
- Spearhead public engagement initiatives through developer-focused events, social media interactions, and online discussion forums.
- Create a comprehensive ecosystem of community resources and illustrative examples to showcase effective usage of the API.
- Set benchmarks for developer satisfaction and initiate ongoing enhancements across the API Platform based on feedback and metrics.
- Organize workshops and hackathons to stimulate creativity, encourage deployment, and ensure customer success.
- Collaborate closely with technical teams, marketing departments, and support staff to guarantee developer success across various sectors and deployment scenarios.
Requirements
- Extensive technical experience in developing or supporting products aimed at developers, with a proven track record of increasing user adoption.
- Deep understanding of the diverse needs of developers at various experience levels and across different technology stacks; experience in developer relations is particularly valuable.
- A well-formed understanding of the developer ecosystem, particularly how developers discover, assess, and select API products.
- Strong intuition for API design, along with experience in prototyping and building products that utilize APIs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the current AI technology landscape, including major players, relevant technologies, and potential areas for differentiation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, especially in formats tailored for developers, such as technical documentation, articles, and presentations at conferences.
- Ability to balance the integration of advanced AI agents with the necessity for a personal touch and thoughtful design.
- High personal standards regarding the quality of work, with a keen eye for detail and imperfections.
- Openness to taking on a variety of responsibilities to ensure an outstanding developer experience.

This position is based in San Francisco, a hub for technology and innovation. The role is full-time, offering a competitive salary range of $220,000 to $405,000, along with equity options.
