Through Sona, our voice-first AI Mental Health Specialist, we extend this clinically grounded model into mental health, using technology to widen access without sacrificing care quality. Today, Pelago supports hundreds of employers and health plans, helping more than 750,000 members manage substance use more effectively.

We are currently seeking a member change leader to join our team in New York, New York. This is a full time role with a base compensation of $130,000. If you are passionate about AI driven, person centered care and want to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.

What You Will Do

You will design intake workflows that turn complex member stories into clear, actionable treatment pathways for tobacco, alcohol, opioids, cannabis, and stimulant use. You will orchestrate care plans that balance intensity with personal habits, health background, and goals, coordinating seamlessly with Sona and human specialists. By analyzing member data, you will refine behavioral models, track progress, and recommend adjustments that keep momentum toward lasting change. You will translate research findings and compliance requirements into practical tools that empower frontline teams and technology partners, ensuring clinical quality is never compromised. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to shape Sona features that enhance, rather than automate away, human judgment. You will guide programs for substance use patterns that remain responsive to genetics, environment, and evolving goals. Across hundreds of employers and health plans, you will monitor outcomes and surface insights that strengthen protocols and improve member success. You will also create documentation that supports audits, training, and knowledge transfer without slowing the delivery of care. Throughout this work, you will champion member voices, feeding real experience into roadmap discussions and steering conversations toward humane technology design. You will stay prepared for evolving regulations and evidence, adjusting workflows so programs remain effective as science advances.

Requirements

You must be able to manage complex member journeys across tobacco, alcohol, opioids, cannabis, and stimulant use with consistently high quality. You should bring three or more years of experience guiding people through change programs that combine clinical understanding with data informed decisions. You must communicate clearly in writing and conversation, adapting detail for executives, clinicians, and partners with equal ease. You should navigate ambiguity confidently, using judgment to balance competing priorities while always protecting safety and regulatory compliance.

Nice to have

Experience with AI tools such as Sona that support scalable, person centered mental health outreach.
