What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive energy audits on residential and commercial buildings to assess energy consumption and identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluate building systems, including HVAC, lighting, insulation, and windows, to determine their efficiency and compliance with local and national energy codes.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports that outline findings, recommendations, and potential energy-saving measures for clients.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that energy-efficient practices are integrated into new construction and renovation projects.
- Stay updated on the latest energy efficiency technologies, building codes, and industry best practices to provide informed recommendations to clients.
- Assist clients in understanding and applying for energy efficiency incentives, rebates, and certifications available through local and federal programs.
- Provide training and support to clients and team members on energy efficiency practices and technologies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in energy inspection and sustainability.
- Engage with local communities to promote energy conservation initiatives and raise awareness about the importance of energy efficiency.
- Utilize specialized software and tools to analyze energy data and generate reports that support your findings and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and client communications to ensure compliance and facilitate follow-up actions.
- Work collaboratively with the Pegllc team to develop and implement strategies that enhance the company's reputation as a leader in energy efficiency consulting.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, environmental science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in building energy inspections, energy auditing, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency standards, building codes, and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
- Proficiency in energy modeling software and tools (e.g., Energy Star Portfolio Manager, RESNET HERS, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
- Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified, or similar credentials is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience with renewable energy systems, such as solar panels or geothermal heating and cooling.
- Familiarity with LEED certification processes and requirements.
- Previous experience in project management or client relations within the energy sector.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and green building materials.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus, enhancing communication with diverse clients.
