About the role
We are seeking a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to join our remote engineering team, dedicated to enhancing the reliability of deployments and minimizing operational risks. This position involves the modernization of our AWS infrastructure through the adoption of Kubernetes, while also providing support across the entire engineering organization. You will play a crucial role in a platform that drives the experiences industry, managing over $7 billion in bookings annually.

What you'll do
- Improve the reliability of deployments and work to reduce operational risks associated with our systems.
- Spearhead the modernization efforts of our AWS infrastructure, focusing on a shift towards Kubernetes for better scalability and performance.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, which may require you to perform infrastructure upgrades during non-standard hours.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and secure solutions that meet business needs.
- Enhance observability within our systems and construct infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.
- Integrate security and compliance best practices throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure and secure deployments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes, especially within EKS clusters, to maintain optimal performance.
- Architect solutions from the ground up, managing implementations effectively while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines, particularly utilizing Jenkins, to streamline development processes.
- Ensure that all infrastructure adheres to PCI and SOC2 compliance standards, maintaining high levels of security and data protection.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps or Platform Engineering role, demonstrating a strong background in the field.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi, showcasing your ability to automate infrastructure management.
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Bash, Python, Ruby, or Go, particularly for CI/CD automation tasks.
- Experience with high-level programming languages, especially TypeScript, as it relates to Pulumi or AWS CDK.
- In-depth knowledge of Amazon Web Services, with a solid grasp of networking concepts like VPCs, DNS, TLS, load balancing, and VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including the ability to troubleshoot issues within EKS clusters effectively.
- A comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and its various phases.
- Proven experience in supporting CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on tools like Jenkins.
- Capability to architect and implement solutions from scratch, managing projects under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with building infrastructure that complies with PCI and SOC2 best practices, ensuring security and reliability.

- Familiarity with other cloud service providers such as GCP or Azure, which can broaden your perspective on cloud architecture.
- Experience with high-level programming languages, including Python, Ruby, TypeScript, or Go, which can enhance your versatility in coding.
- Knowledge of SQL-based databases, which can aid in data management and querying.
- Experience with MongoDB as a NoSQL database, providing additional data handling capabilities.
- Familiarity with caching systems like Redis, which can improve application performance.
- Experience with CDN, WAF, and DNS management using Cloudflare, enhancing your understanding of web security and performance.
- Knowledge of serverless computing platforms such as AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Run, or GCP Cloud Functions, which can add to your cloud skill set.
