About the role
OpenRouter is seeking its first dedicated Enterprise Product Manager to lead the development and expansion of its enterprise offerings. This critical role involves working closely with large organizations to enable them to utilize OpenRouter's AI model catalog effectively while maintaining control over their policies, security, and expenditures. You will be responsible for addressing the unique challenges faced by enterprise clients, such as limited model access, security requirements, and governance, helping them experiment with and adopt advanced AI capabilities at scale. The position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the enterprise strategy for OpenRouter, ensuring that the platform meets the complex needs of large organizations and fosters trust in AI deployment.

What you'll do
- Manage and own the entire enterprise product roadmap, from initial procurement processes, security reviews, and compliance checks to driving daily platform usage and expanding customer accounts.
- Collaborate directly with Fortune 100 design partners and enterprise clients to understand their specific needs, translating these insights into a strategic product plan that aligns with their security, governance, and operational requirements.
- Lead the development of the core enterprise platform features, including identity and access management, role-based access controls, governance controls, organizational tools, data privacy measures, and financial controls to ensure enterprise-grade security and compliance.
- Discover and analyze emerging AI trends and enterprise needs to identify opportunities for product enhancements that make advanced AI capabilities more accessible and manageable for large organizations.
- Develop and implement product strategies to expand adoption from individual teams to organization-wide deployments, ensuring seamless integration with existing enterprise systems and workflows.
- Act as a key representative of enterprise customer needs internally by participating in sales calls, customer site visits, and feedback sessions, and use this information to inform and prioritize product development efforts.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, sales, security, and customer success teams to deliver features that meet enterprise standards, ensuring smooth coordination and alignment across departments.
- Uphold high standards for product quality, reliability, and security to foster trust and clarity in enterprise adoption, ensuring that the platform complies with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Drive initiatives to improve platform usability, security, and compliance, ensuring that enterprise clients can confidently deploy and scale AI models within their organizations.
- Support sales and customer success teams by providing technical expertise and product insights during client onboarding, demonstrations, and ongoing support.
- Monitor industry developments, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to keep the product aligned with market needs and compliance requirements.
- Advocate for enterprise customers within the company, ensuring their feedback influences product roadmaps and feature prioritization.
- Contribute to the development of documentation, training materials, and best practices to support enterprise clients in deploying and managing OpenRouter's platform effectively.
- Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with engineering teams to balance technical feasibility with enterprise requirements, including security, scalability, and usability.
- Lead efforts to ensure the platform supports enterprise features such as single sign-on (SSO), Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), audit logs, and other governance tools.
- Promote a proactive approach to product management, engaging with customers regularly, iterating based on feedback, and adapting strategies to meet evolving enterprise needs.
Requirements
- A minimum of 6 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused specifically on enterprise products or enterprise SaaS platforms.
- Proven ability to take a product into larger market segments, demonstrating success in scaling enterprise solutions.
- Extensive experience building technical, analytics-focused products designed for sophisticated and technical users within large organizations.
- Familiarity with a sales-led enterprise go-to-market approach, including experience working with Fortune 500 clients and navigating complex procurement and security approval processes.
- Deep understanding of IT, security, and administrative buyer perspectives, including requirements for large-scale software deployment, security protocols, and compliance standards.
- Practical knowledge of enterprise readiness features such as role-based access control (RBAC), single sign-on (SSO), Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM), audit logging, and governance controls.
- Strong technical judgment, with the ability to discuss infrastructure, APIs, security trade-offs, and deployment considerations with engineering teams.
- A proactive, action-oriented mindset, capable of engaging with customers, iterating quickly, and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, sales, and customer success teams.
- Experience working in environments that require compliance with security standards and regulations, such as SOC 2 or HIPAA, is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver results, and influence cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.
Nice to have
- Experience selling to or developing solutions for regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, or the public sector, including familiarity with relevant standards like SOC 2 and HIPAA.
- A track record of scaling enterprise products from early-stage development to large-scale deployment within high-growth companies.
- Knowledge of the AI ecosystem, including responsible AI deployment practices, and understanding enterprise needs for AI governance and compliance.
- Experience working with enterprise security tools and frameworks beyond basic features, such as advanced compliance modules or custom integrations.
- Familiarity with enterprise cloud infrastructure, APIs, and deployment models that support large-scale AI applications.
