About the role
You will own the end-to-end product marketing strategy for ChatGPT's consumer subscription portfolio, defining how customers discover, understand, and convert to paid plans. You will translate complex behavioral and market insights into clear positioning and narratives that make paid plans feel essential to distinct customer needs. You will act as the voice of the customer across product, pricing, and growth decisions, ensuring that every plan and feature change reflects real user value. You will design integrated campaigns that turn new product launches into meaningful upgrade moments across the entire funnel. You will build scalable frameworks that standardize how we talk about and sell subscriptions globally. You will guide cross-functional stakeholders through tradeoffs and align partners without relying on direct authority. You will adapt messaging for local markets while maintaining a cohesive global brand story. Your work will directly drive measurable growth in free-to-paid conversion by helping users clearly recognize the value of paid plans.

Define the product marketing strategy for ChatGPT Go, Plus, and Pro, shaping positioning, value propositions, and priority use cases for each tier.
Partner with Product, Pricing, and Growth to define target audiences, core benefits, and the primary jobs each plan is designed to solve.
Identify monetization opportunities across the product launch portfolio and design campaigns that connect new features to reasons to upgrade.
Translate customer insights, competitive analysis, and behavioral data into evidence-backed recommendations for pricing, packaging, and positioning.
Own the product marketing strategy and customer story for pricing and plan pages across ChatGPT.com and OpenAI.com, ensuring clarity and consistency.
Coordinate pricing and plan changes with cross-functional partners including Product, Pricing, Growth, User Operations, Web, Design, Research, Data, and other product marketers.
Develop launch and adoption strategies that make the value of each plan obvious and help customers understand what changes with each new offering.
Own the end-to-end marketing journey from awareness and understanding through consideration and trial, creating clear reasons for users to upgrade.
Collaborate with Growth and lifecycle teams to design promotions, messaging, and educational content that reinforce plan value at each touchpoint.
Shape international go-to-market strategies by adapting positioning, messaging, and education to meet the needs of different markets.
Build reusable frameworks for messaging, launches, and customer education that scale across products and markets.
Champion evidence-based decision making by presenting data, tradeoffs, and scenario analyses to senior stakeholders.
Mentor peers and junior marketers by sharing best practices, playbooks, and learnings from experiments and results.
Represent the customer perspective in high-level discussions about product direction, tier structure, and long-term strategy.
Ensure that all customer-facing narratives, from onboarding to upgrade flows, communicate a coherent and compelling subscription story.
Requirements
Have led product marketing for consumer subscriptions and been accountable for quarterly growth and monetization targets, including paid adoption and free-to-paid conversion.
Bring sound judgment on monetization, pricing, and packaging, and know how to collaborate with Product, Pricing, and Growth on decisions that balance customer value and business needs.
Can turn customer research, market signals, competitive analysis, and behavioral data into actionable positioning and product recommendations.
Have built compelling premium positioning and value propositions that clearly communicate why distinct paid plans matter to customers.
Can lead complex launches and coordinated plan changes across multiple partners, workstreams, and customer-facing surfaces.
Have partnered effectively with Growth and lifecycle teams on adoption strategies, promotions, and customer education across the marketing journey.
Bring experience shaping go-to-market strategies for global markets and adapting messaging to relevant customer needs.
Can communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, explain tradeoffs using evidence, and build alignment without formal authority.
Are comfortable independently prioritizing ambiguous work, making sound tradeoffs, and developing scalable frameworks for messaging, launches, and plan education.
Bring rigorous editorial craft, an ability to translate technical and research insights into clear and persuasive narratives, and comfort working with data and qualitative insights.
