Full Stack Web Engineer
Job description
About the Role
At Oowlish, we are reimagining how teams collaborate with intelligent systems. As a certified Great Place to Work, we provide a nurturing environment that champions professional development and international impact. We are seeking an experienced Senior Web Application Engineer to architect and build a next-generation web-based chat application. This application will connect users directly to an AI-powered backend, leveraging the capabilities of AWS Bedrock. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between sophisticated AI technology and exceptional user experience, crafting interfaces that are intuitive, responsive, and scalable.
This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to design your schedule and achieve a sustainable work-life balance. You will join a team of passionate professionals who are fluent in English and dedicated to delivering cutting-edge digital solutions for clients across the United States and Europe. If you are excited about shaping the future of conversational AI interfaces, we invite you to apply.
What You'll Do
Your contributions will be integral to the entire feature lifecycle, from initial analysis through deployment and continuous improvement. You will own the client-side logic, ensuring the chat interface delivers a seamless and engaging user experience. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Architecting and developing new features for a responsive chat interface using modern JavaScript frameworks and vanilla ES6+ modules.
- Integrating with external AI service endpoints via REST APIs, managing authentication, request formatting, and sophisticated error handling strategies.
- Translating AI backend specifications into interactive frontend components capable of rendering streaming responses in real time.
- Optimizing application performance through lazy loading, code splitting, and efficient state management patterns.
- Collaborating closely with AI engineers to refine conversation flow, user prompts, and UI feedback mechanisms for optimal usability.
- Implementing robust error handling and offline support mechanisms to ensure reliability in diverse network conditions.
- Writing and maintaining comprehensive unit and integration tests to safeguard code quality and prevent regressions during rapid iterations.
- Instrumenting the application with detailed logging and analytics to monitor usage patterns and diagnose production issues efficiently.
- Partnering with designers to convert static mockups into pixel-perfect, accessible, and mobile-first user interfaces.
- Refactoring legacy code segments to improve maintainability, readability, and alignment with current architectural best practices.
- Establishing and contributing to frontend tooling, workflows, and documentation that enhance team productivity and code consistency.
- Mentoring cross-functional team members on frontend techniques, debugging strategies, and performance optimization tactics.
- Participating in code reviews to provide constructive feedback, share knowledge, and uphold engineering standards across the organization.
- Supporting the deployment pipeline by configuring build processes, managing dependencies, and ensuring smooth production releases.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in modern web technologies and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate combines formal education with extensive practical experience.
- You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
- You must have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in frontend development with a strong portfolio of shipped applications.
- You must be proficient in JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3, with a deep understanding of the DOM and browser rendering mechanisms.
- You must have hands-on experience with at least one modern frontend framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- You must be fluent in English, both written and verbal, to communicate effectively with international clients and team members.
- You must have a proven track record of building and maintaining complex user interfaces in collaborative, deadline-driven environments.
- You must understand RESTful API design principles and be capable of integrating third-party services into web applications seamlessly.
- You must be comfortable working asynchronously in a fully remote setup, managing your time and tasks without direct supervision.
