Outcome Engineer - Early in Career Professional
Job description
About the role
Onebrief is seeking an AI-native engineer to join a team responsible for building the foundational systems that enable autonomous, multi-agent collaboration. In this role, you will design and implement the core orchestration layers that allow specialized agents to work together seamlessly on complex operational tasks. You will create the semantic and memory infrastructure that provides agents with a deep contextual understanding of code and business intent. You will also build the rigorous evaluation frameworks that define success and move the organization beyond subjective validation. Ultimately, you will be a pioneer constructing the factory that builds software, shifting the paradigm from managed backlogs to infinite execution. This position is ideal for someone who views software not as code, but as a mechanism for producing measurable operational outcomes.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect Multi-Agent Systems: Design the orchestration layers that enable multiple specialized agents to collaborate, debate, and execute complex tasks reliably. You will move us from simple prompts to robust, stateful agentic workflows.
- Implement Automated Governance: Create the "guardrails" and policy engines that allow autonomous systems to operate safely at speed. You will build the infrastructure that replaces manual review with programmatic constraints.
- Engineer Context and Memory: Build the semantic infrastructure (knowledge graphs, vector stores) that provides agents with deep, structural understanding of our codebase and business intent. You will solve the "blank slate" problem for autonomous workers.
- Build Rigorous Evaluation Frameworks: Develop the testing harness that defines success. You will move us beyond "vibes" to deterministic validation of agentic outputs using formal specifications and automated metrics.
- Design Self-Healing Loops: Connect observability data directly to agent actions, enabling systems that not only detect failures but autonomously analyze and remediate them.
- Prototype and Deploy: We prove success by shipping. You will rapidly prototype new agentic tools and deploy them to production for both our internal teams and customers. This is a creation role; we learn by building.
- Experiment and Learn: This is a new field. You will be experimenting with new models, new orchestration techniques, and new ways of validating agent behavior every day.
- Translate Strategic Intent: Work closely with product and operations teams to convert high-level mission objectives into technical specifications for autonomous agents.
- Maintain Production Resilience: Ensure that agentic workflows are reliable, observable, and maintainable in demanding operational environments.
- Contribute to Open Source Strategy: Build and release components of the AI Engineering Platform back to the community where appropriate.
- Mentor and Collaborate: Work cross-functionally with engineers, researchers, and operators to elevate the entire team's capability in agentic development.
- Drive Technical Roadmaps: Define the milestones and deliverables for the agentic infrastructure stack in partnership with leadership.
- Optimize for Efficiency: Constantly seek improvements that reduce latency, cost, and complexity in agent execution.
- Document System Behavior: Create clear artifacts that explain how autonomous agents make decisions and interact with external systems.
Requirements
You possess a rare combination of software engineering rigor and comfort with emerging AI paradigms. You understand that the systems you build will be used in contexts where decisions carry significant real-world weight. You thrive in environments where ambiguity is high and the ability to move quickly is essential. You are comfortable wearing multiple hats and bridging disciplines in service of a shared mission. You have a proven track record of delivering complex software systems that scale. You communicate clearly and constructively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are passionate about building the tools that empower others to solve hard problems. You are legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship at this time.
Nice to have
Experience with multi-agent frameworks, reinforcement learning, or simulation platforms.
Practical notes
This role is full-time based in the United States and allows for remote work. No specific hours or travel requirements are defined in the source. No visa sponsorship is available for this position. There are no published deadlines for this opportunity in the provided source.
