What you'll do

• Develop and enforce safety protocols for our autonomous driving software systems, ensuring they meet industry standards.
• Assess the performance of our systems against established safety metrics for both robotaxi and consumer vehicle applications.
• Work closely with engineering teams to seamlessly integrate safety features into the Nuro Driver and Nuro Toolkit, enhancing overall system reliability.
• Perform comprehensive hazard analyses and risk assessments for new features in our autonomous driving technology.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of compliance documentation, ensuring accurate safety reporting for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional teams in identifying potential safety risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in autonomous vehicle safety regulations and standards, ensuring Nuro remains at the forefront of compliance.

Requirements

• A solid professional background in autonomous vehicle safety or systems engineering, with a focus on safety-critical systems.
• Proven experience in the development and validation of safety-critical software, particularly in the context of autonomous vehicles.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations pertaining to autonomous driving safety, such as ISO 26262 or similar frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex safety concepts to diverse audiences.
• A collaborative mindset, with experience working in cross-functional teams to achieve common safety goals.
