About the role
This role defines how infrastructure supports autonomous AI agents in production across diverse workloads. It owns the end-to-end backbone that makes critical AI workflows reliable, observable, and adaptable. The position shapes databases, deployment, and operations so complex services can run on a shared foundation.
Platform and DevOps engineers build the systems that run everything else. They manage infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and reliability. The work is about automation, scaling, and removing friction for product teams. Systems thinking is the core skill. Platform teams are measured by developer velocity and system reliability. Most companies run on-call rotations, and understanding incident response is part of the role.

What you'll do
Deployment and environment strategy is continuously evolved so CI/CD, isolation, rollout methods, and recovery keep changes reversible, observable, and resilient across variable loads. Infrastructure growth is planned to map a pragmatic 12-24 month evolution that supports multi-vertical workflows, from low-latency real-time to long-running, stateful, and failure-prone jobs.
Requirements
Production systems on a major cloud provider are operated for 4+ years, with GCP as the primary platform and AWS or Azure as strong complements. Infrastructure is automated through infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD, such as Terraform and GitHub Actions, with proven ownership of real production environments. Production databases are run and tuned, with hands-on experience in migrations, slow query resolution, connection limits, and performance regressions, supported by preventative processes. Observability is driven using modern tools like Datadog, with an opinionated focus on measuring what matters while filtering noise. Security and reliability are applied through IAM, networking, service-to-service authentication, and an understanding of systems that customers depend on. Infrastructure is treated as a product, prioritizing explicitly, making tradeoffs transparent, measuring impact, and iterating based on evidence rather than theoretical ideals.

Platform interviews usually include an infrastructure scenario, a scripting or coding exercise, and operational questions. Candidates may be asked to design a deployment pipeline or debug an outage. Incident experience and an automation mindset are tested. Interviewers often ask about a past outage and how you handled it. Structured post-incident thinking, not heroics, is what they look for.
