About the role
This position plays a vital role in ensuring our enterprise clients are able to successfully adopt and utilize Neo4j's graph intelligence platform from the very beginning. As a Technical Onboarding Engineer, you will act as a primary technical advisor, guiding new customers through the initial setup, configuration, and integration of their graph database environments. Your expertise will help clients deploy secure, scalable, and efficient Neo4j solutions, ensuring a smooth transition from contract signing to a fully operational, production-ready system. You will work closely with clients to understand their technical requirements, troubleshoot issues, and provide best practices to maximize their success with Neo4j's products. Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist customers in establishing secure and scalable Neo4j AuraDB cloud instances or self-managed clusters across major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Guide clients through the process of configuring network security, including setting up Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Virtual Networks (VNets), and private connectivity options like PrivateLink or Private Endpoints.
- Implement and advise on security best practices, including data encryption, identity management, and access controls, to ensure customer data remains protected.
- Collaborate with clients to design and optimize data ingestion strategies, ensuring efficient integration of their existing data sources with Neo4j.
- Support customers in deploying applications that connect to Neo4j, providing technical guidance on best practices for application integration and performance tuning.
- Work with clients to define success metrics, establish project timelines, and identify potential risks or technical challenges during onboarding.
- Develop and deliver technical documentation, onboarding guides, and best practice materials to facilitate customer understanding and self-sufficiency.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Neo4j's onboarding processes by sharing insights from customer interactions and field experiences.
- Provide technical support during the onboarding phase, troubleshooting issues related to cloud deployment, security configurations, or data migration.
- Participate in customer meetings, webinars, and training sessions to demonstrate platform features and answer technical questions.
- Liaise with product teams to communicate customer feedback, feature requests, and common technical challenges encountered during onboarding.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a client-facing technical role, such as Solution Architect, Solution Engineer, Technical Consultant, or similar.
- Practical experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting workloads on at least one major cloud provider, including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), Virtual Networks (VNets), routing, and private connectivity options like PrivateLink or Private Endpoints.
- Hands-on experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
- Demonstrated ability to implement enterprise-level identity and access management solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO) using OIDC or SAML protocols, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant technical field.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, with a track record of delivering technical solutions that meet client needs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Nice to have
- Experience with data integration tools and Change Data Capture (CDC) technologies to facilitate real-time data synchronization.
- Familiarity with Linux system administration, including command-line operations, scripting, and server management.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Prior experience working with graph databases, especially Neo4j, and understanding of their architecture and use cases.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or Splunk, to help clients monitor their Neo4j environments.
- Understanding of cloud compliance standards such as SOC 2, GDPR, and HIPAA, to advise clients on security and compliance requirements.
