About the role
This position places you at the center of enterprise support for a global Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations landscape. You will own the full lifecycle of complex technical incidents, driving resolutions from initial diagnosis through to final deployment and documentation. The role requires deep accountability for production stability and the design of robust, future-proof extensions. You will act as the critical technical bridge between functional requirements and secure, performant implementation. Collaboration with Microsoft Support and external vendors will be a core part of resolving high-impact issues. Your work will directly define the reliability and efficiency of financial operations for our clients. The position demands a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and adherence to strict service standards.

What you'll do
- Serve as the L3 escalation owner for D365 F&O incidents, problems, and service requests, driving resolution from initial triage to final closure.
- Conduct deep root cause analysis for complex production issues, utilizing logs, traces, monitoring tools, and debugging techniques to identify underlying defects.
- Investigate and resolve intricate batch job failures, addressing performance bottlenecks and scheduling inefficiencies that impact system throughput.
- Resolve data integrity challenges, posting issues, and intermittent defects by analyzing data flows and implementing precise corrections.
- Diagnose and fix integration failures and API/service errors across heterogeneous environments and third-party interfaces.
- Resolve environment-specific issues that manifest across Dev, Test, UAT, and Production, ensuring consistency and stability.
- Design, build, and maintain extension-based solutions that adhere strictly to Microsoft best practices, avoiding over-layering and technical debt.
- Develop and support X++ customisations and extensions, ensuring code quality and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Build and maintain SSRS reports, Data Entities, and OData/Custom services to support business operations and data mobility.
- Optimize batch framework performance through efficient scheduling, workload separation, and asynchronous processing strategies.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews focused on performance, security, maintainability, and supportability of all delivered solutions.
- Ensure compliance with established coding standards and deployment guardrails to maintain system integrity.
- Tune solution performance through strategic query optimization, indexing recommendations, and effective caching considerations.
- Support and enhance integrations involving OData, REST services, DMF, Azure integrations, and Power Platform touchpoints.
- Diagnose and resolve interface and data movement issues, including mapping, transformations, retries, and sequencing logic.
- Support critical data activities such as data corrections, reconciliation routines, and entity-based imports and exports.
- Ensure auditability and controlled execution of all data fixes to meet compliance and governance requirements.
- Support release planning and deployment execution across all environments, coordinating activities with DevOps pipelines.
- Work with Azure DevOps to manage work items, branching strategies, pull requests, and build/release pipeline configurations.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD practices, including automated build validation, code quality checks, and release approvals.
- Support Lifecycle Services (LCS) activities, including environment health checks, deployable packages, and updates or hotfixing.
- Manage user access rights and troubleshoot security roles, performing duty and privilege analysis to ensure least privilege.
- Support user licensing activities, including assigning and removing licenses and managing the license renewal process.
- Operate within ITIL-aligned Managed Services processes for incidents, problems, changes, and service requests.
- Produce clear technical documentation, including RCA reports, technical notes, deployment runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
- Identify recurring issues and implement problem prevention strategies and automation to reduce manual effort.
- Support and guide L1 and L2 support teams to ensure effective issue resolution and seamless knowledge transfer.
Requirements
- Hold 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, demonstrating deep technical proficiency.
- Bring a proven track record of delivering supportable customizations and fixes within live production systems under managed services pressure.
- Possess a relevant Microsoft D365 Developer certification, which is mandatory for this position and must be current and verifiable.
- Exhibit strong ownership for troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis on complex, high-impact technical incidents.
- Demonstrate practical experience in developing extension-based customizations, integrations, and supportable solutions that adhere to Microsoft best practices.
- Show advanced capability in debugging techniques, including the analysis of logs, traces, and monitoring outputs to resolve intricate issues.
- Display comprehensive experience with core D365 F&O development components, including X++, extensions, event handlers, and the Chain of Command.
- Demonstrate proven experience with SSRS reporting, Data Management Framework (DMF), Data Entities, and OData or custom service development.
- Show familiarity with integrations involving OData, REST APIs, and Azure services such as Service Bus, Functions, or Logic Apps.
- Exhibit strong knowledge of the batch framework, asynchronous processing, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning in D365 F&O.
- Bring experience working in production support or managed services environments, handling business-as-usual (BAU) operations with resilience.
- Show ability to work effectively within ITIL-aligned service management processes, handling incidents, problems, changes, and service requests professionally.
- Demonstrate capability to manage security roles, user access rights, and licensing within the D365 F&O ecosystem.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with functional leads, service management, and technical teams.
- Bring a commitment to maintaining high-quality documentation, including technical notes, deployment runbooks, and RCA reports.
Nice to have
- Experience with Power Platform integration touchpoints relevant to D365 F&O workflows.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for release management in enterprise SaaS environments.
