Business Travel Consultant
Job description
About the Role
This position sits at the core of Navan's Travel Experience team, directly supporting travelers and upholding the company mission to make travel seamless and empowering. In this role, you will own the frontline travel experience by resolving issues, communicating clearly, and collaborating across internal teams. Your daily work will ensure travelers can focus on being present, while you provide essential feedback that shapes product, design, and engineering decisions. This is a frontline position with direct influence on operations, traveler journeys, and platform enhancements. You will act as the primary point of contact for travelers, guiding them through complex booking changes and policy adherence with clarity and empathy. Each interaction you handle will serve as a direct line of insight into real-world platform performance and user expectations. You will translate ambiguous traveler concerns into precise actions that keep bookings accurate and compliant. Over time, your contributions will directly inform how Navan designs its tools and support processes for the global business traveler.
What You'll Do
You will convert rapid travel questions into clear, structured paths for guests using chat, calls, and email. Each day, you will map shifting customer needs against company policies to ensure bookings remain accurate and compliant. You will guide travelers through the Navan app and web tools, helping them act with confidence and reducing the need for repeated support. You will shape replies regarding supplier and system changes, then share insights that steer future platform improvements. Coordinating with internal teams will be essential to unblock trips, keep schedules intact, and maintain realistic expectations for every traveler. You will also sustain strict attendance, complete required training, and consistently meet personal quality and speed standards. You will manage the full lifecycle of travel requests, from initial inquiry through resolution and follow-up verification. Handling modifications, cancellations, and emergency situations will require calmness and precise adherence to Navan standards. You will leverage your understanding of GDS rules and fare classes to explain charges and adjustments accurately. Your analysis of recurring issues will help identify patterns that lead to clearer self-service options for travelers.
Requirements
You must hold 5+ years of experience arranging air, rail, and hotel bookings, with 3+ years of hands-on work using a Global Distribution System such as Sabre, Amadeus, or Galileo. Both experience and GDS proficiency are mandatory. Fluency in English and Italian is required, with the ability to handle complex requests in both languages. You should feel at home in contact center or customer-facing roles, solving problems for external guests under time pressure. Comfortable use of Gmail, Zendesk, Slack, and Salesforce is necessary while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. You must adapt to rotating shifts between 7 AM and 11 PM, Monday through Sunday, matching business demand. Strong independent troubleshooting skills, clear verbal and written communication, and composure during high-stakes situations are required. You must be willing to relocate to Portugal for this position and maintain compliance with all local regulations. All application materials must be submitted in English, and this requirement is non-negotiable.
