About the role
You will shape the strategic medical direction for Natera's oncology initiatives, concentrating on melanoma, cutaneous malignancies, and the expanding field of immunotherapy across solid tumors. In this leadership capacity, you will provide critical scientific oversight and clinical expertise to ensure that Natera's testing solutions are aligned with the highest standards of evidence and innovation. You will own the medical narrative for key oncology programs, translating complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders. This role requires you to act as a bridge between cutting-edge science and real-world clinical application, influencing how diagnostics are integrated into patient care pathways. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the scientific credibility of Natera's offerings within the highly competitive immuno-oncology space. Furthermore, you will champion the value of precision medicine and liquid biopsy technologies to drive meaningful improvements in patient outcomes. What you'll do
Lead the formulation and execution of the clinical strategy for melanoma, non-melanoma skin cancers, and pan-tumor immunotherapy applications utilizing ctDNA technologies.
Partner with clinical development and commercial teams to translate evolving scientific evidence into practical tools that enhance clinical decision-making and patient management.
Collaborate with distinguished key opinion leaders, cooperative groups, and academic institutions to validate novel use cases and expand the clinical utility of liquid biopsy diagnostics in immuno-oncology.
Provide authoritative field-facing education and strategic guidance to healthcare providers, payers, and advocacy groups regarding the clinical utility and interpretation of MRD and response monitoring in immune-treated patient populations.
Identify and mitigate barriers to adoption by aligning evidence generation, targeted messaging, and proactive stakeholder engagement with the shifting landscape of care standards and health system requirements.
Serve as the primary medical and scientific spokesperson for skin and immuno-oncology portfolios, articulating clinical data, study outcomes, and product differentiation to external experts and key stakeholders.
Develop and oversee the creation of high-impact educational resources, medical content, and scientific training materials designed for both healthcare professionals and internal Natera teams.
Offer scientific leadership and strategic input during advisory board sessions, medical symposia, and key investigator meetings to ensure alignment with therapeutic goals.
Represent Natera at major national and international oncology and immunotherapy conferences, cultivating robust relationships with leading opinion leaders in melanoma and immune-oncology.
Promote an organizational culture grounded in scientific rigor, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of excellence within the medical affairs and research and development functions.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on the design of clinical trials, data analysis, and publication strategies specific to ctDNA applications in melanoma and other immune-responsive solid tumors.
Identify and foster strategic academic and cooperative group partnerships to accelerate clinical validation and drive translational research initiatives in skin and pan-tumor immuno-oncology.
Evaluate and integrate emerging trends in liquid biopsy, precision medicine, and immune response monitoring to position Natera's portfolio at the forefront of the field.
Champion the integration of real-world evidence and patient-reported outcomes to support the clinical and economic value of Natera's diagnostic solutions.
Requirements
Possess an MD or DO degree and hold current, unrestricted licensure to practice medicine in the United States.
Demonstrate board certification or board eligibility in Medical Oncology, Hematology Oncology, or a closely related specialty with extensive experience in melanoma and cutaneous oncology.
Bring a proven track record of leadership within medical affairs, clinical development, or oncology-focused roles within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
Showcase substantial expertise in the fields of skin cancer and immuno-oncology, including a deep understanding of targeted therapies, checkpoint inhibitors, and emerging treatment paradigms.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of liquid biopsy technologies, ctDNA analysis, and the clinical implementation of minimally invasive diagnostic tools.
Exhibit exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences including clinicians, executives, and payers.
Display strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a history of driving initiatives from concept to successful execution in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team in a matrixed organizational structure.
