What you'll do
You will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a comprehensive portfolio of commercial agreements that underpin MyOme's business operations. You will act as the central legal resource for contract matters across commercial, research and development, and operations teams, ensuring alignment between legal risk and business objectives. A core part of your role will involve maintaining and evolving our contract templates, playbooks, and internal approval workflows to improve efficiency and consistency. You will translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal stakeholders to facilitate decision-making and deal execution. Supporting due diligence and legal review activities for business development and partnership opportunities will be essential to evaluating new ventures. You will coordinate with outside counsel on specialized or high-complexity matters to ensure appropriate expertise and risk management. A critical responsibility will be the lifecycle management of contracts, including execution, storage, and ongoing tracking to ensure compliance and audit readiness. Finally, you will contribute to the development of internal legal policies and procedures that scale with the growth of the company and its evolving needs.
Requirements
You must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and hold active bar membership in at least one U.S. state. You must be currently admitted to practice in California or be eligible for waiver into the California Bar to perform legal services in this jurisdiction. You must have a minimum of seven years of post-law school professional experience, with a requirement for meaningful in-house legal experience; prior work in a law firm is a plus, but in-house background is essential to succeed in this role. You must have demonstrated experience in life sciences, genomics, digital health, or healthcare technology, given the specialized nature of MyOme's products and services. You must have experience applying artificial intelligence tools to augment legal reviews, processes, and contracts management in a professional setting. You must have a proven track record of independently drafting and negotiating commercial contracts across various terms and complexities. You must exhibit exceptional attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues that others may overlook and a commitment to accuracy in all deliverables. You must be able to communicate legal concepts clearly and pragmatically to non-legal business stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding. You must be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a lean, fast-paced, and evolving startup environment. Familiarity with data privacy regulations and considerations, including HIPAA and various state privacy laws, is required to handle the sensitive nature of genetic and health information. Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is necessary to efficiently manage the volume and complexity of agreements in this role.

This is a hybrid role, requiring two days of onsite work in the San Francisco office per week.
