Key facts
What you'll do
- Architect and implement software modules that handle perception, prediction, and control for autonomous vehicles.
- Build and maintain robust test suites to validate the behavior of vehicle software under diverse driving scenarios.
- Analyze system logs and performance metrics to identify and resolve software anomalies in a timely manner.
- Integrate third-party libraries and APIs to extend the capabilities of the autonomous driving stack.
- Partner with hardware engineers to ensure software optimizations align with sensor and compute constraints.
- Document technical designs and implementation details to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards and share expertise across the engineering organization.
- Collaborate with product managers and safety experts to refine requirements and prioritize technical debt.
- Support the deployment of software updates to vehicles in the field, including monitoring and rollback procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices for software development and debugging.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Possess 2 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience in a relevant industry.
- Demonstrate proficiency in C++ and Python with a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Have hands-on experience with robotics or autonomous systems, including simulation and real-world testing.
- Show competence in version control systems, particularly Git, for managing complex codebases.
- Exhibit strong debugging skills to isolate issues in multi-threaded and distributed systems.
- Display effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship requirements for the location of Boston, Massachusetts, or Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with the exception of positions explicitly marked as remote U.S. where sponsorship is available.
Nice to have
- Hold a Master's or PhD in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Bring experience with ROS or similar robotics middleware for building modular and scalable applications.
- Demonstrate familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch for model integration and optimization.
- Have a background in contributing to open-source projects or publishing research in autonomous systems.
- Show experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes for deploying scalable services.
- Possess knowledge of functional safety standards and their application in automotive software development.
