In the capacity of Engagement Manager at MongoDB, you will be an integral member of the Professional Services team, dedicated to enhancing customer satisfaction through strategic service delivery. Your role will involve collaborating with diverse teams to assist clients in achieving their objectives using MongoDB's innovative solutions. What you'll do
- Conduct thorough analyses of customer application portfolios to identify potential areas for modernization, cloud migration, AI integration, and transformation of data platforms.
- Lead the initial discovery phase, formulate solutions, provide cost estimates, and negotiate terms to turn customer initiatives into formal Professional Services agreements.
- Work in partnership with cloud and strategic partners, as well as MongoDB account teams, to devise and execute strategies that promote customer success and growth in Professional Services.
- Assume full responsibility for deals and technical scoping throughout the entire process.
- Manage the Professional Services pipeline, tracking bookings and revenue forecasts within your assigned region.
- Articulate the business value of professional services clearly, addressing challenges in service delivery and proposing effective strategies.
- Collaborate with the practice team to improve internal capabilities by developing reusable assets such as proposals, templates, and case studies.
- Liaise with the delivery team to ensure seamless transitions of project scope and customer expectations for successful project outcomes.
- Actively mentor colleagues and disseminate best practices within the team.
- Maintain situational awareness and respond appropriately in collaborative settings.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in Professional Services sales, consulting sales, solution consulting, or related technology roles with a quota-carrying responsibility.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable field of study.
- A minimum of 5 years in selling Professional Services or technology solutions in an enterprise software context.
- Experience in roles such as architect, consultant, project manager, or in Professional Services management.
- Familiarity with the internal positioning and selling of professional services.
- A solid understanding of databases, including relational databases (RDBMS), SQL, and NoSQL systems.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Insight into software architecture, encompassing both cloud and on-premise technologies like AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a larger account team to formulate and implement complex account strategies.
- Proficiency in scoping and estimating project requirements accurately.
- Excellent presentation skills to effectively communicate the value and unique aspects of complex service solutions.
- Willingness to travel for significant client engagements and team events.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI-related projects or initiatives would be advantageous.

Practical notes
MongoDB provides a competitive base salary range for this position, which falls between $105,000 and $206,000 USD, contingent on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and geographical location. The overall compensation package may also encompass equity options, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, fully-paid parental leave, fertility and adoption support, a 401(k) retirement plan, mental health resources, and comprehensive health benefits.
