About the role
We are seeking a visionary leader to spearhead our initiatives aimed at boosting our visibility within Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI platforms, including ChatGPT and Google AI. This position will report directly to the Director of Marketing Acquisition and will be instrumental in enhancing our brand presence, engaging with developers, and attracting new clientele through optimized visibility in answer engine outputs. This is a fully remote position available to candidates located in the United States.

What you'll do
- Formulate and execute MongoDB's comprehensive strategy to enhance visibility in LLMs, concentrating on improving citation share, sentiment, and precision among technical developer audiences.
- Lead and grow a team of experts in SEO, AEO, and content optimization, fostering a culture of rapid experimentation in AI-driven search methodologies.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Documentation teams to elevate MongoDB's digital footprint for LLM crawlers, implementing best practices for structured data and ensuring seamless API and documentation access.
- Partner with various teams, including Developer Relations, to guarantee that high-quality, LLM-compatible insights are readily available on prominent developer platforms such as Reddit and Stack Overflow.
- Create corporate standards for developing content specifically designed for LLMs, providing training to cross-functional teams on effective writing strategies.
- Work alongside Data Science and Analytics to define new metrics for AEO, assessing its impact on product-led growth (PLG) sign-ups and overall performance.
- Analyze competitive landscapes and identify opportunities for MongoDB to enhance its positioning within the AI and developer communities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure MongoDB remains at the forefront of answer engine optimization.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in technical SEO, digital strategy, or growth engineering, with a minimum of 2-3 years dedicated to AI technologies and LLM optimization, including 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated experience in recruiting, managing, and mentoring technical marketing teams, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Comprehensive understanding of LLM operations, including crawling and indexing, as well as familiarity with semantic HTML and knowledge graphs.
- Insight into the developer community and the methods technical decision-makers use to discover products, with the ability to engage authentically.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex AI and SEO concepts to executive leadership in terms of business impact.
- Proficiency in utilizing enterprise SEO tools (such as Conductor, Ahrefs, SEMrush) and web analytics platforms (like Google Analytics).
Nice to have
- Experience with developer community tools such as CommonRoom or Sprinklr.
- Background in technical writing or managing content related to developer tools and cloud infrastructure.
- Basic understanding of Python or SQL for data analysis and manipulation of LLM outputs.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in enterprise SEO suites (Conductor, Ahrefs, SEMrush)
- Familiarity with AEO/LLM monitoring platforms (such as Profound)
- Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Amplitude)
- Knowledge of project management software (Jira)
Practical notes
The salary range for this position at MongoDB is between $104,000 and $204,000 USD. Compensation will be customized for each candidate based on their individual skills, experience, and geographical location. Eligible employees may also receive additional benefits, which can include equity options, participation in an employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, fully-paid parental leave, fertility assistance, a 401(k) plan, mental health support, and comprehensive health benefits.
