About the role
Mintlify is scaling rapidly, and this role establishes the foundational people infrastructure to support our growth. You will lead the People function, ensuring compliance, shaping compensation, and guiding performance strategy. Your primary focus will be on employee retention and engagement, providing continuous insights to leadership. You will own the end-to-end employee lifecycle, creating systems that allow the organization to maintain its culture while operating at scale. This position requires a strategic partner who can translate business objectives into people programs and policies. You will be responsible for building trust across the executive team and translating complex HR concepts into actionable plans. The role demands a high level of ownership and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will act as the architect of our people infrastructure, setting the standard for how we grow and operate as a company.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with founders and the executive team on workforce planning, organizational design, and overall people strategy.
- Develop and enhance internal listening mechanisms, translating feedback into weekly people-health reports for executives.
- Drive employee retention and engagement by proactively identifying risks and implementing interventions.
- Ensure company-wide compliance across all operating jurisdictions, managing policies and the employee handbook.
- Define compensation philosophy, including benchmarking, salary bands, equity refresh strategy, and job architecture, in partnership with Finance and Operations.
- Establish performance strategy, auditing and refining our review cycles.
- Strengthen our management layer through coaching and structured development programs.
- Utilize people data and insights to inform decisions and continuously improve HR initiatives.
- Serve as a confidential resource for employees regarding conflict, concerns, and sensitive situations.
- Manage employee departures with respect and thorough consideration of downstream implications.
- Partner with Finance to analyze the impact of headcount and budget allocation on organizational performance.
- Oversee the implementation of HRIS systems to ensure accurate data management and reporting integrity.
- Lead the integration of new hires to ensure they are set up for success from day one.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to foster an inclusive and innovative workplace culture.
- Act as a subject matter expert on employment law and ensure all practices align with legal requirements.
Requirements
- 8 to 10+ years of progressive People/HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Demonstrated success in early identification of people risks and measurable reductions in attrition.
- Experience implementing structured listening programs and converting insights into actionable strategies for leadership.
- Familiarity with the challenges and solutions of scaling a company from 50 to over 150 employees.
- Proven ability to manage a complete performance cycle, from design and calibration to manager coaching and compensation adjustments.
- Strong understanding of compensation practices, including benchmarking, salary bands, and equity refresh strategies.
- Expertise in multi-state and international employment regulations.
- Capacity for executive-level candor, providing direct feedback to founders when necessary.
- Exceptional discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive situations.
- Experience supporting a rapidly growing organization.
- Track record of successfully coaching first-time and mid-level managers, leading to measurable improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary for translating complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Proven experience in driving process improvement and operational excellence within HR functions.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally to solve complex business problems with ambiguous ownership.
