AI Engineer - Generative AI and Automation
Job description
AI Engineer - Generative AI and Automation at Mex Digital.
About the role
You will design and own the full lifecycle of AI agents and automated workflows that directly enhance business operations and client value. You will translate ambiguous business challenges into concrete agentic architectures and production-grade services. You will act as the technical lead responsible for scoping, building, and maintaining intelligent systems using the latest generative AI tools. You will ensure that every deployed agent meets strict standards for reliability, safety, and performance. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to uncover opportunities where automation can drive measurable efficiency and innovation. You will continuously refine agent behavior based on real-world metrics and feedback loops. Ultimately, you will enable the organization to automate complex, high-value processes through cutting-edge generative AI.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, build, and deploy AI agents leveraging frontier LLMs such as Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, and other cutting-edge models.
- Architect sophisticated multi-agent systems and agentic workflows using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, and Semantic Kernel.
- Build and manage automated business workflows by leveraging tools such as n8n, Make (Integromat), Zapier, and custom API integrations.
- Implement robust RAG pipelines with vector databases including Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, and pgvector to provide agents with access to critical organizational knowledge.
- Design and integrate tool-use and function-calling patterns that connect agents to internal systems, APIs, databases, and external third-party services.
- Fine-tune and prompt-engineer LLMs to maximize agent reliability, accuracy, and task performance under diverse conditions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and translate high-level requirements into concrete agent-based solutions.
- Monitor, evaluate, and iteratively improve deployed agents by tracking quality, latency, cost, and safety metrics in production environments.
- Establish and uphold best practices for agent safety, implement guardrails, and incorporate human-in-the-loop controls to ensure responsible AI deployment.
- Develop MCP (Model Context Protocol) server integrations that extend the capabilities of agents and connect them to new data sources and services.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a closely related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered an acceptable alternative.
- Bring 2 or more years of hands-on experience building production AI systems or intelligent automation solutions that are deployed in real-world settings.
- Demonstrate concrete experience building agents or workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, n8n, or other comparable frameworks in live projects.
- Show proven ability to integrate LLM APIs such as Anthropic Claude and OpenAI into production applications with reliability and scalability.
- Have strong experience with vector databases and semantic search implementations, which is strongly preferred for this role.
- Present a portfolio or demonstrable projects that include deployed agents, automation workflows, or RAG-based applications that illustrate your technical impact.
- Write clean, efficient code with proficiency in Python as the primary language, while knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript is considered beneficial.
- Exhibit familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization using Docker, FastAPI for building services, and CI/CD practices specific to AI pipelines.
