Senior AI Architect
Job description
Senior AI Architect at Mex Digital.
About the role
This Senior AI Architect Opportunity at MultiBank Group represents a foundational technical leadership position within the AI organization. The hire will own the complete conception, construction, and scaling of the AI and data platform that directly powers the company's AI product portfolio. This is a hands-on role that eliminates the gap between high-level architecture and production implementation, requiring deep personal involvement in writing code and defining standards. The position demands rare technical breadth, combining data engineering fundamentals, software engineering discipline, AI systems experience, and cloud infrastructure fluency. The architect will establish the patterns and coherence that allow the broader AI organization to operate at enterprise scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Define and own the end-to-end AI platform, transforming raw input into reliable deployed output across the entire lifecycle.
- Design the data lakehouse architecture on AWS utilizing Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg with Databricks as the primary compute layer.
- Build batch and streaming data pipelines using PySpark, AWS Glue, and Kafka to ensure robust and scalable data movement.
- Architect and implement an online and offline feature store that guarantees point-in-time correctness and supports feature versioning.
- Own cloud infrastructure architecture for all AI and data workloads on AWS, including multi-account strategy, EKS cluster design, GPU compute, storage layers, and cost governance.
- Build and own the MLOps platform covering experiment tracking, training pipeline automation, model packaging, deployment standards, CI/CD for ML, and model monitoring with drift detection.
- Design the AI services layer, including reusable inference APIs, model serving infrastructure, and API gateway configuration with authentication, rate limiting, and cost attribution.
- Integrate AI capabilities into the organization's products and business systems using event-driven and API-based architectural patterns.
- Embed security and compliance into every layer of the AI platform, including network security, IAM, PII handling, secrets management, and audit logging.
- Act as the senior technical authority for the AI Initiative, setting engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and leading critical technical decisions.
- Produce and maintain architecture documentation including C4 diagrams, Architecture Decision Records, and system integration maps to ensure clarity and alignment.
Requirements
You bring fifteen or more years of experience spanning data engineering, software engineering, and AI/ML systems, with at least three to five years in a senior architecture role. You have a demonstrable record of building and shipping production AI systems end-to-end, not solely designing them from a distance. You possess deep hands-on data engineering background including production data pipelines, data lakehouses, and feature stores that are robust and scalable. You demonstrate expert AWS skills across multi-service architecture design and implementation, with familiarity of GCP or Azure as beneficial for broader context. You write production-grade Python and SQL, and you understand distributed systems and API design well enough to make sound technical trade-offs. You understand the full AI and ML lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining at scale in production environments. You have experience in high-growth product companies, scale-ups, or enterprise AI teams where you owned significant technical choices and influenced product direction. A security-conscious approach is your default, with experience embedding data privacy and compliance requirements into architecture from the start. You communicate clearly in writing and speaking, including the ability to produce clear architecture documentation and present complex technical concepts to senior leadership with confidence. You have led or significantly contributed to building technical teams, including mentoring engineers and establishing engineering standards that others can follow. A fintech background is preferred because it aligns with the specific compliance and operational rigor required in this domain.
Nice to have
Only items explicitly stated in the source are considered preferred, and the source indicates a preference for fintech background.
