Senior Product Operations Specialist
Job description
About the role
You are the operational backbone of Mercury's product organization, ensuring that complex initiatives move with precision so that product teams can focus on building differentiated financial services. You will architect and run the core programs that define how Mercury brings products to market and how teams collaborate across functions. This role requires you to own the end-to-end lifecycle of high-visibility programs, from initial design through execution, measurement, and continuous optimization. You will translate ambiguous strategic goals into concrete operational systems that scale predictably as the company grows. You will work at the intersection of process, people, and technology to remove friction and create clarity for cross-functional partners. Your work will directly influence the speed and quality of Mercury's product decisions and delivery. You will be a builder of systems and a partner to leadership, using data and empathy to design operating models that feel intuitive to use.
Key facts
What you'll do
Design, own, and continuously evolve Mercury's Product Launch Program, establishing the review structures, ownership models, and workflows that allow new products to move from concept to launch with clarity and high quality.
Own the end-to-end experience for the New Grad PM Rotational Program, coordinating rotations, mentoring, and program improvements that create a standout development path for early-career product managers.
Build and rigorously own the PM onboarding experience, creating the documentation, programming, and peer structures that allow new hires to ramp quickly and feel connected to the product culture.
Design and operate Product Culture programming, creating internal rituals, external events, and thought-leadership efforts that strengthen how Mercury teams work and scale with growth.
Drive complex cross-functional initiatives across Product, Engineering, Design, Communications, Recruiting, and People, establishing alignment, timelines, and clear accountability for shared outcomes.
Translate strategic product objectives into repeatable operating systems, using systems thinking to identify leverage points and automate or simplify manual work.
Partner closely with the Product Operations Manager and product leadership to turn ambitious direction into practical, durable programs that teams can rely on.
Continuously measure the health and efficiency of core programs, using feedback and data to propose and implement improvements that reduce friction over time.
Act as the operational product designer for the product organization, applying a mindset of user empathy to how teams interact with processes and tools.
Make thoughtful decisions in ambiguity by balancing speed and quality, ensuring that programs move forward without sacrificing clarity, consistency, or rigor.
Own the documentation and playbooks for key programs, ensuring that knowledge is accessible, reusable, and easy to update as the company scales.
Champion a bias toward action while maintaining sound judgment, choosing the right pace for each initiative and balancing tradeoffs under time pressure.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify needs, co-create solutions, and ensure that new programs integrate cleanly with existing ways of working.
Proactively notice operational friction that others have accepted, and take ownership of simplifying, streamlining, and improving workflows for the entire product org.
Requirements
3-5 years of experience in Product Operations, Program Management, Business Operations, Chief of Staff, Consulting, or a similar cross-functional role, ideally supporting product or engineering organizations in a high-growth technology company.
A track record of owning cross-functional programs from concept through execution, balancing strategic thinking with exceptional operational follow-through and attention to detail.
Strong systems thinking, with the ability to look beyond one-off projects and design repeatable operating mechanisms that help organizations scale efficiently.
An instinct to improve rather than maintain, actively looking for opportunities to evolve existing programs instead of merely sustaining them.
Excellent judgment and comfort operating in ambiguity, with the ability to translate high-level objectives into clear plans when direction is still being formed.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, demonstrated by the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives while maintaining a consistently high bar for quality.
A product mindset, approaching internal operations with the same rigor, user empathy, and iterative thinking used in external product development.
A bias toward action paired with sound judgment, knowing when to move quickly and when to invest in thoughtful design in a fast-paced environment.
