About the role
You will establish the foundational architecture of Mercury's enterprise partnerships function by acting as a pure hunter focused on large-scale platform deals. Your primary ownership will center on constructing embedded finance structures and deep API integrations that transform distribution channels for thousands of businesses. You will position Mercury as the indispensable financial layer within platforms such as Shopify, TikTok, Meta, and Clio through bespoke partnership structures. Success will be defined by your ability to create lasting distribution use cases and embed Mercury natively into partner ecosystems via single contract agreements. This role requires activating your executive network to open doors and drive deals from initial business case development to final launch. You will rigorously pressure-test economic models while aligning cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and GTM. Ultimately, you will define Mercury's enterprise partnerships playbook, setting clear strategies for targeting, positioning, negotiation, and success metrics for the upcoming year.

What you'll do
- Architect bespoke partnership structures utilizing embedded finance and deep API integrations to maximize distribution impact across digital platforms.
- Identify category leaders across platforms such as Shopify, TikTok, Meta, and Clio, positioning Mercury as their essential financial layer through precise capability matching.
- Secure agreements that embed Mercury natively within partner products, reaching thousands of customers through a single strategic partnership contract.
- Own outreach at the executive and C-suite levels, rapidly opening doors by activating your existing network and cultivating new high-value relationships.
- Drive complex deals through the complete lifecycle, from initial business case development and negotiation through legal closure, integration scoping, and final launch.
- Use Mercury's complete product suite, including banking, payments, cards, APIs, MCP, and CLI tooling, to match these capabilities precisely to partner requirements.
- Develop and rigorously pressure-test economic models, ensuring alignment across Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and GTM teams for seamless integration.
- Define Mercury's enterprise partnerships playbook, establishing clear strategies for targeting, positioning, negotiation, and success metrics for the upcoming year.
- Collaborate closely with accounting firms, venture capital firms, accelerators, and corporate incorporators to navigate the startup ecosystem effectively.
- Leverage proficiency with platforms such as Clio, Shopify, TikTok, Meta, and Google to communicate value and integration possibilities convincingly.
- Maintain technical familiarity with Mercury's banking, payments, cards, APIs, MCP, and CLI tooling to articulate integration possibilities clearly.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that partnership objectives are met and that Mercury's value is maximized within each embedded finance structure.
Requirements
- Possess 8 to 10+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or enterprise sales within high-growth technology companies.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of closing platform-scale deals, highlighting the ability to embed products into ecosystems that achieve distribution far beyond direct sales efforts.
- Have an active professional network that can be engaged immediately at senior executive levels to accelerate deal momentum.
- Show consistent success in building and maintaining relationships with executive sponsors and C-suite stakeholders.
- Exhibit strong ownership for driving complex integrations from initial scoping through final implementation and launch.
- Display comfort in navigating legal, financial, and technical discussions with confidence and precision.
- Bring experience in developing and validating economic models that support large-scale partnership decisions.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively when using Mercury's product suite to demonstrate integration possibilities to potential partners.

This is a full-time position offering an annual base compensation range of $160,000 to $200,000. The role is based in San Francisco, California; New York, New York; Portland, Oregon; or remote within the United States.
