May Mobility is experiencing a period of significant growth as we expand our autonomous shuttle and mobility services nationwide. We are seeking talented data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop automated methods for contextualizing data collected by our autonomous vehicles. This will enable us to generate valuable insights from our data, making it easily searchable for triaging issues, creating test sets, and building datasets for autonomy improvements. Responsibilities
You own the performance bar for simulation quality and release safety. Designing experiments and interpreting model behavior is central. Teams rely on your clarity when navigating complex autonomy tradeoffs. You will design intake criteria for simulation pipelines to ensure data reliability. You will architect feature stores that translate vehicle logs into structured training sets. You will review model outputs through rigorous validation checkpoints before deployment. You will ship analysis artifacts that guide product and safety decisions across teams. You will partner with perception and planning groups to align evaluation standards. You will translate regulatory constraints into concrete requirements for model behavior. You will mentor engineers on best practices for experiment reproducibility and insight sharing. You will champion visualization strategies that make complex model behavior understandable.
Skills
Success in this role typically requires the following competencies. You hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in a quantitative field. You bring 10 plus years focused on data science or machine learning in complex systems. You write Python, SQL, and analysis tooling fluently for production workloads. You extract, transform, and analyze data using databases at scale. You design, build, and evaluate large datasets with rigorous discipline. You architect and train predictive models that perform in dynamic environments. You have mentored peers, elevating team capability on challenging projects.
Nice to Have
A background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or physics informs your work. You have hands-on experience working with vehicle simulation data pipelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
You hold a B.S, M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Math, or a related quantitative field. You bring 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist or ML Engineer with a strong focus on algorithmic design and deep learning. You write Python, SQL, and data analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Spark) with strong proficiency. You demonstrate expertise in databases for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. You have proven experience building and managing large datasets and evaluations. You have hands-on expertise in architecting and training complex predictive machine learning models. You have prior experience in mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
Desirable
Background in Autonomous vehicles, robotics, physics or related fields. Hands-on experience with simulation data.
Compensation and Location
This role is fully remote across the USA. The position is full-time. Compensation ranges from $180,000 to $260,000 USD per year.
