About the role
The Senior Product Safety Engineer II owns the development of the safety case for the Driver Out system and defines a functional safety concept derived from safety goals and safety cases according to UL4600 and ISO 26262. This role plans and manages the safety plan to align with the company's product launch schedule and coordinates safety activities with product managers, development teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve safety goals. The incumbent collaborates closely with development teams on every aspect of the safety plan to ensure on-time delivery of mature work products and creates, maintains, and reviews safety work products such as HARA, FSC, TSC, FTA, FMEA, SPFM/LFM, PMHF, and DFA. This position communicates with all required stakeholders to identify and define technical and system requirements tied to safety goals and ensures that functional safety confirmation measures such as audits and assessments are planned and completed. The role requires excellent communication and presentation skills to explain functional safety concepts to non-safety engineers and hands-on analytical problem-solving with a proven track record of resolving complex issues.

What you'll do
Define a functional safety concept from safety goals and safety cases according to UL4600 and ISO 26262.
Own the development of the safety case for our Driver Out system.
Own and manage the safety plan according to UL4600 and ISO 26262 including a schedule to hit the company's product launches.
Plan and coordinate safety activities with product managers, development teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve safety goals on products.
Collaborate with development teams on every aspect of the safety plan through appropriate processes and methods to ensure on-time delivery of mature work products.
Create, maintain, and review safety work products such as HARA, FSC, TSC, FTA, FMEA, SPFM/LFM, PMHF, and DFA.
Communicate with all required stakeholders to identify and define technical and system requirements tied to the safety goals.
Effectively communicate and explain functional safety concepts to non-safety engineers.
Ensure that functional safety confirmation measures such as audits and assessments are planned and completed.
Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills.
Apply an analytical mindset and a proven track record of problem-solving to hands-on tasks.
Show enthusiasm for cutting-edge innovation in self-driving technologies and safety products.
Support continuous improvement of safety processes and deliverables across the organization.

Requirements
Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
Possess strong knowledge of functional safety standards UL4600 and ISO 26262.
Have experience developing and managing safety plans for automotive or autonomous vehicle products.
Demonstrate the ability to define safety goals and derive technical requirements through safety cases and HARA.
Show capability to create and analyze FTA, FMEA, and other safety analyses.
Have experience coordinating with suppliers and customers on safety-related activities.
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Possess hands-on problem-solving skills and an analytical mindset with a track record of delivering mature work products on schedule.
Nice to have
Experience with autonomous vehicle platforms and sensor suites.
Familiarity with model-based design and verification processes.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles relevant to functional safety.
Experience using safety management tools and requirements tracing tools.
Background in public transportation or urban mobility systems.
