CNC Machinist

About the role

You will oversee the end-to-end operation of CNC machining equipment to produce precision aerospace hardware during off-hour production. Working independently, you will set up, operate, and troubleshoot advanced machining operations to ensure consistent performance and quality. You own the maintenance of a clean, organized, and safe shop floor while adhering to strict safety procedures and regulations. This role requires proven ability to work independently or on night shifts in a fast-paced production environment. You will provide feedback to the day team to support continuous improvement and process development. Your responsibilities include inspecting parts to verify dimensions and ensuring quality standards are met. You will also complete preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure operational efficiency and document all actions for continuity across shifts.

What you'll do

• Operate complex parts on CNC mills, lathes, and 5-axis machines during the day shift with minimal supervision.
• Set up and operate multi-axis CNC mills (up to 5-axis) and manual lathes to meet production demands.
• Inspect parts using hand tools and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to verify dimensions and ensure quality.
• Set up tooling, adjust offsets, and perform changeovers to keep production lines running smoothly.
• Maintain tight tolerances for aerospace components, adhering to strict quality standards and blueprint specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues independently, communicating with shop leadership when production is impacted.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop floor during day operations to support a efficient workflow.
• Provide feedback to the day team to support continuous improvement and process development initiatives.
• Complete preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Document actions, production, and quality logs meticulously to maintain continuity across shifts.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, training programs, and skill development.

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 3 years of CNC machining set-up experience, including manual mill, lathe, and 5-axis systems.
• Demonstrate the proven ability to work independently or on off-shifts in a fast-paced production environment.
• Exhibit a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint interpretation.
• Show proficiency with Fanuc, Brother, Haas, OSP, or Siemens machine controllers for daily operations.
• Display familiarity with basic G-Code and comfort adjusting feed/speed settings to optimize performance.
• Possess the ability to use hand inspection tools to verify machined features and dimensions accurately.
• Maintain the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work hands-on in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Hold a high school diploma or GED as a minimum educational requirement for the position.
• Show willingness to work long hours during the day or night shift to meet production schedules.
• Adhere to safety procedures and regulations to maintain safe operations for yourself and your team.
• Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the assigned work area to the highest standards.
• Demonstrate proficient computer skills for documentation and machine operation tasks.
• Operate CNC mills and lathes with precision and reliability as part of daily responsibilities.
• Possess manual mill and lathe experience as a core requirement for this technical role.
• Operate 5-axis machining systems with competence and attention to detail.

Work Hours: Willingness to work long hours during the day or night shift.
