RF Systems Technical Project Manager

About the role

Lynk is the inventor of satellite direct to standard phone technology, sat2phone, and holds the world's only commercial license from the FCC to operate a commercial sat2phone system. In this role, you will manage multiple RF systems projects that span from concept generation through product realization for new technology development efforts in the wireless communications domain. You will coordinate with project sponsors and key senior team members to define and budget these initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. The effective candidate will thrive equally in informing and architecting the future while setting the necessary project plan for execution of strategically significant efforts across multi-functional teams. You will interact regularly with suppliers and subcontractors related to technology development projects, taking ownership of cost, schedule, and technical performance and risks. Ultimately, your mission will be to directly touch the lives of billions by bringing mobile broadband to the world, pulling hundreds of millions out of poverty, and saving countless lives through reliable connectivity everywhere.

What you'll do

• Manage multiple RF systems projects that span from concept generation through product realization for new technology development efforts in the wireless communications domain.
• Coordinate with project sponsors and key senior team members in defining and budgeting for new technology development efforts.
• Work with technology leads to define projects at the task level including task definition, duration, and relationship to other tasks, as well as resource loading projects to create measurable schedules.
• Understand, manage, and take ownership of cost, schedule, and technical performance and risks associated with assigned efforts.
• Act as the primary interface to project sponsors, key senior team members, and other stakeholders on project status and performance.
• Interact regularly with suppliers / subcontractors related to technology development projects.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and ITAR compliance requirements for all project activities and documentation.
• Drive the definition of project scope, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with technical leads and product owners.
• Track and report on project metrics, milestones, and dependencies to maintain visibility and enable proactive decision-making.
• Facilitate cross-functional alignment between engineering, product, operations, and government programs teams.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear project plans, status updates, and risk registers for diverse audiences.
• Support the transition of technologies from design concepts to functioning products, including test, integration, and deployment activities.
• Identify and escalate project dependencies, constraints, and blockers, proposing mitigation strategies as appropriate.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and best practices within the organization.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or better in science, engineering, or relevant technical field from an accredited university.
• A Master Degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
• 10+ years of industry experience, including 3+ years in a Technical Project Management role.
• Technical understanding of and experience working on RF System development projects, including RFFE design and test, antenna design and test, and digital beamforming system design and test.
• Demonstrated experience as a Technical Lead or Project Manager working in the RF domain is a plus.
• Exposure to government programs and a current active security clearance is a plus.
• Knowledge and understanding of processes, tools, and metrics essential for project monitoring and control and risk management.
• Experience transitioning technologies from a design concept to a functioning product is a plus.
• Must be able to meet U.S. Government ITAR requirements, including being a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, a refugee, or an asylee.
• Must be eligible to obtain any necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations if not meeting ITAR citizen or resident criteria.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for this position.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC area.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite communications systems and payloads.
• Familiarity with standards bodies and regulatory processes for telecommunications.
• Background in commercial mobile networks or mobile operator engagements.
