About the role
At Lynk, we are pioneering a satellite-to-device communication network that enables standard mobile phones to connect directly to space. We are in search of a skilled Electrical Engineer to assist in the expansion of our nanosatellite bus and communication payload technologies. This position involves engaging in the entire hardware development process, from the initial schematic design phase through to the final testing and integration stages.

What you'll do
- Design and construct hardware for spacecraft buses and payloads, which includes working with FPGAs, SoCs, single-board computers, software-defined radios (SDRs), and RF components.
- Oversee the complete circuit board development process, which encompasses schematic capture, component selection, layout design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Develop firmware and testing software to ensure the functionality and reliability of your hardware designs.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation and facilitate design reviews to ensure quality and compliance.
- Perform failure analysis on hardware components and document the results for future reference and improvement.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to ensure the seamless integration of electronic components, addressing thermal and physical constraints effectively.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of payloads to our launch partners and vendors, ensuring all specifications are met.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the performance and reliability of our hardware systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in satellite technology to inform design decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to drive projects forward and meet deadlines.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and best practices in hardware design and development.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in circuit board development, with a strong focus on discrete logic, signal conditioning, power circuits, and RF PCBs.
- Demonstrated experience in designing satellite bus systems is essential.
- Proficiency in using Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout is a must.
- Familiarity with circuit simulation tools, particularly LTSpice, is required.
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers, CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and antennas is necessary.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers is essential.
- Experience working with Linux operating systems and the ability to interpret complex IC datasheets is required.
- Candidates must meet ITAR requirements, which include being a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Nice to have
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or MATLAB would be advantageous.
- Experience with hardware-software integration and programming microcontrollers is a plus.
- Familiarity with VHDL or Verilog and experience with Xilinx or Altera FPGAs would be beneficial.
