As a Senior Data Scientist focusing on Rider New Products at Lyft, you will play a role in shaping the future of our rider experience. What you'll do

Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights that inform product strategy and enhance rider experience.
Develop predictive models to forecast rider behavior and identify trends that can drive product innovation.
Collaborate with product managers to define key performance indicators (KPIs) for new features and assess their impact on rider engagement.
Conduct A/B testing and other experimental designs to evaluate the effectiveness of new product features and enhancements.
Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner, using data visualization tools to support your arguments.
Work closely with engineering teams to ensure the proper implementation of data-driven solutions and maintain data integrity across platforms.
Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on best practices in data analysis and modeling techniques.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science methodologies to continuously improve our analytical capabilities.
Participate in cross-functional brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas for new rider products and features.
Collaborate with marketing teams to analyze the effectiveness of promotional campaigns and their impact on rider acquisition and retention.

Requirements

A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, data science, or a related field, preferably within the tech or transportation industry.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with a strong understanding of data manipulation libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and statistical analysis tools.
Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases for data extraction and manipulation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about complex data challenges.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Nice to have

Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
Experience in the mobility or transportation sector, particularly with rider-focused products.
Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI to present insights effectively.
Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and how they relate to product development.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) for data storage and processing.
