Lightning AI is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the general ledger operations for the organization. This position is located in San Francisco, California, United States. The role focuses on maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records across the company. You will be responsible for preparing detailed financial reports and supporting the broader accounting team while ensuring compliance with established financial standards and procedures.
Key facts
What you'll do
1) Reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis to ensure all entries are accurate and properly documented for internal review.
2) Prepare and review monthly journal entries to maintain the integrity of financial data and support the month end close process.
3) Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes to meet strict reporting deadlines and ensure timely financial disclosures.
4) Analyze financial statements and provide detailed insights to support strategic decision making and long term business planning within the company.
5) Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable aging reports to ensure timely collection of receivables and accurate payment of outstanding liabilities.
6) Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to provide necessary documentation, explanations, and support throughout the entire examination process.
7) Maintain the chart of accounts and update it systematically as business needs evolve over time to reflect current operations accurately.
8) Calculate and record depreciation and amortization for fixed assets in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles consistently.
9) Support the annual budgeting process by providing historical financial data, variance analysis reports, and actionable recommendations to department heads.
10) Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and regulatory requirements at all times to mitigate financial risk effectively.
Requirements
1) Demonstrated experience managing general ledger accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial records in a professional accounting setting.
2) Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards to perform daily duties accurately and efficiently.
3) Proficiency with accounting software and enterprise resource planning systems to manage high volumes of transactions effectively.
4) Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with various departments and presenting financial findings clearly.
5) Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast paced environment without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
6) Detail oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity in all financial reporting activities.
7) Experience with month end close and financial consolidation processes to support timely and accurate financial reporting.
