About the role
Life360 is on the lookout for a Senior Analytics Engineer who will play a pivotal role in converting extensive data sets into actionable insights. This position entails the development and maintenance of data models and pipelines that are essential for informed decision-making across multiple departments. The role merges elements of analytics engineering and data engineering, specifically within the Databricks ecosystem.

What you'll do
- Design and implement data models tailored for analytical functions, supporting teams in Product, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
- Build and oversee dbt transformation workflows, focusing on maintaining data integrity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assume responsibility for curated datasets, ensuring they are clear and traceable from their raw form to formats ready for business use.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers to construct and sustain data pipelines and Delta Lake tables in the Databricks environment.
- Partner with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to develop robust data products that facilitate experimentation and advanced analytics.
- Set up data quality checks, monitoring systems, service level agreements, and alerts for critical analytical datasets.
- Contribute to the advancement of AI/LLM development by creating tools and agents for code generation and system upkeep.
- Define and uphold data contracts with Data Engineers to guarantee schema stability.
- Advocate for best practices in analytics engineering, including version control, code reviews, testing, and thorough documentation.
- Create user-friendly data marts and semantic layers to empower self-service analytics capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data modeling, or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing data products and working collaboratively across teams.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code, with a structured approach to reviewing and testing the code they generate.
- Proficiency in SQL at an expert level, including skills in query optimization and performance tuning.
- Significant experience with dbt, particularly its testing, documentation, and package management functionalities.
- Strong programming skills in Python for tasks related to data manipulation, automation, and custom analytics solutions.
- A solid grasp of dimensional modeling, star schemas, and various data modeling methodologies.
- Experience with the Databricks platform, including SQL Warehouses, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog; knowledge of Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift is a plus.
- Understanding of data orchestration frameworks and scheduling processes within data workflows.
- Experience using version control systems like Git and implementing CI/CD practices for analytics code.
- A strong business acumen to effectively translate business requirements into actionable data models.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in advertising, ad tech, or media-related data.
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and compliance regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and SOX.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Mode.

- The salary range for candidates based in the United States is between $148,000 and $218,500 USD.
- For candidates located in Canada, the salary range is from $171,500 to $201,000 CAD.
- Compensation includes a base salary, equity options, and a comprehensive benefits package.
